  4. Hi all. I'm looking for some logs to build a proper butt and pass cabin in my garden. I'm not sure what's available but i'm looking for around 4 meter lengths and 100-125mm diameter. They can't be any bigger as they will have to be carried up to the garden, no road access. I'm living in the Rhondda, South Wales. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. 5. I refuse to pay all that money for an I phone. I did buy a new work phone last week though. Its a Black view BV6000. Its got a built in case and is water proof. Unlike other tough phones it runs on Android 6 and has a decent processor and decent cameras and duel sim. There's videos on you tube of it surviving various scenarios. It only cost £160. The only down side is that its Chinese so we'll see how it goes but so far so good. Well worth a look though. Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app

  7. I have to be honest I'm very happy with my Protos. I read about the reviews after finishing my training and went for it. I didn't like the husky ones they gave out for training. I have had no problems with comfort or sound suppression. If I had to buy a helmet tomorrow it would be a protos Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. There a lot of apps available that allow GPS tracking via your phone don't know if any of them allow any sort of outbound emergency signaling. There are also GPS beacons, The spot 3 looks on as does pebbell. I don't have any experience with these though. Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. Fair point, but that was in Kent and I'm in the Rhondda Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Pitty he didn't run his orange mate over when he fell from the van, also £500 to cut 2ft off the conifers says the professional? I need to put my prices up!! [emoji4] [emoji3] Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  11. If you want to do a bit of everything, as I do I'd go for a van. Much more secure for mowers and Strimmer's ect. More importantly your kit is out of sight. I did have lwb hi top tranny, don't get me wrong when it was packed right I could get a load of stuff in that thing but it gets a bit disheartening when you have to drag it all out again at the end of the day. I now have a Citroen relay and tipper trailer, its good on fuel although a bit under powered pulling a loaded trailer up hill. The trailer is a dream to unload too.[emoji2] Sent from my BV6000 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Hi guys and gals. Any body know of a loler inspector in or near the Cardiff/ Valleys area in South Wales. Thanks.
  13. Hi Northman, what do think of the Jansen chipper? I'm thinking of getting one, I wouldn't mind some feed back on it. Thanks.
  14. I just had a look at the latest posts from Sean, the guy who had the hellish accident, I don't know him personally, I'm sure many of you do. His sister is running a Marathon to raisemoney for Aspire, a charity that has helped him along the way. She's a fair bit short of her target on just giving, if we all give a little it would help alot, so I'm just bumping the link up. Thanks. https://www.justgiving.com/NikkiKing...aign=pfp-share
  15. Thanks Steve, I will be getting some costs next week for testing with any luck so you might be right. The reason for me posting on here was to get some input from guys like you to help with making my mind up on wether or not its worth doing. Thanks again.
  16. No not powder coated, just painted to look pretty. I agree, any sort of paint will soon get worn off and yes plating is the way to go, we have already decided to make the bollard shorter on the next one to reduce the forces acting on it. Curving the plate is a good idea too. Thanks for the input.
  17. The back plate is paterned ie tread plate to help with grip and the plate is then held on with a ratchet strap, the hooks going through the holes in the plate, I am contemplating the idea of the the provision of two straps
  18. I didn't take a any pics last time I used it as I was not thinking of selling it then. I will get some dons asap though.
  19. HI all, I'm looking for your opinions, and I'm sure I'll get it. I had this lowering device made for myself, by a professional fabricator. It works very well and is very simple in design. So then I had the thought of having some made to sell. The pics are of the one I have and use now but I am fortunate enough to have a very good friend who is a great engineer and he helping me with a few tweeks for any future ones. The selling price would be in the £120-£150 range with straps. We have not had any load tested yet but my in my friends opinion it would take around 5 tonne to make the device fail, with a safety factor of 5:1 this could potentially lower a 1 tonne. I Just wanted to get some initial feed back from you guys before I go any further, Thanks and be kind. https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipMR7aKEPfXdEFm65zxbmGJXAXlXVLbnhFfHpSmv https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipNzdPNy4hcRS8obSPzvYhCHPc4fxvSPHURNSa3k https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipO6nsfOxd7_TgCgPCakZC5hfDpby-lkKS3f3ywh https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPI3khB7zmiXbZW56Frlfa5k1qtOix4v-trNbAX https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPIsjk6W0QwXWUpWKycARmSIRu2ZKYPJGRBT67x
  20. Unless you purposley want to be in it for the long haul. Stay out of it.
  21. Sounds like loads of people looking for groundies. If any body has contact details for a any groundsman/rescue climbers for what is casual work at the moment in the RCT/Cardiff area please let me know. I'm finally getting some tree work in as a bonafide tree surgeon. Woo hooo. PS. Pay to be discussed but I will pay well for the right person.
  22. Hi all, I have just finished the last of my training, ie. Climbing with a saw. I am busy enough with grass cutting and landscaping at the moment as is usual in the summer but I am hoping to get some extra tree work in during the later months of the year now that I'm all legit so to speak. So being a small concern with trees that is, and not knowing how busy its going to get I'm hoping to get some contact details of some freelancers with tickets in or near the Rhondda. Preferably with their own climbing kit although I do hope to let a rescue kit together soon. Thanks .Gavin.
