  1. Michael Phelps to race a great white shark as part of Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week' - BBC Sport I'd pay to watch this.
  2. Been following this thread with a little interest. I never have any issue with chipper dust from a respiratory point of view. Planes made me a bit snotty when climbing around in them but that's it. Not saying it's not bad for you of course, just adding my experiences.
  3. Ok, get it now, showing the GM working prototype.
  4. Maybe they're enjoying themselves, maybe that's their idea of a good time and sitting around the piano with their extended family "bonding" bores the tits off them. Maybe working themselves to an early grave is preferable to playing Boggle with their in laws. Each to their own, freedom of choice.
  5. Pete, correct me please, I thought you were GM?
  6. My first 4wd back in the late 90s was a Terrano, fell apart like a circus clown's car. Don't confuse them with the robustness of a pick up, other people seem to have better experiences though, which is fair enough.
  7. I know every jobs different but.....I'd probably have spent twenty minutes chainsawing the worst of that ivy off before starting.
  8. http://i1.cmail20.com/ei/d/C7/93E/4C2/013757/csfinal/MainGraphicNU2.jpg So this looks interesting, petrol engine, 37hp
  9. Thanks David,I'll bear it in mind. ATM the Hywel Evans thing looks the best bet.
  10. We're all going to die Mark. The point I'm trying to make is that the whys and wherefores of topping (which can mean anything from a reasonable reduction to leaving a monolith depending on different people's interpretations) has so many variables, species, situation, health of tree, that the perjorative use of the word to instantly define bad practice, especially by industry leaders, is counter productive.
  11. Thanks YCL in contact with them now, looks like it could work.
  12. Treestuff seems like the only option, although they seemed rather nonplussed by the request in the email. I phoned them Kevin, waiting for a call back.
  13. So I have the MultiOne and according to those in the know, here and elsewhere, I need the BMG TreeStuff - Branch Manager Mini Grapple MultiOne, both here and in the UK are unaware of them and don't supply them as an attachement. Anyone on here bought one in Europe? Or have they all been individually shipped from the US? Thanks in advance..
  14. I've never seen a variegated willow tbh, but you do that with maples, so why not?
  15. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/training-education/17114-new-arboriculture.html You can use the search function to find many threads like this ^^^^^ Good luck.
  16. As it's you Dave..... Willows regenerate new growth very fast, they can be brutally cut back on a regular cycle. By late spring/mid summer of the first year after the cutting it's lush enough to be aesthetically pleasing to all but the most fundamentalist arb. Even if rot appears in the cut wound you can cut behind it to start the whole process again. I have noticed long lateral weeping willow branches will very often crack under their own weight. "Meaningful reductions" are acceptable for weepers, as for crack, grey and goat willows, well, killing them by over pruning would be a neat trick.
  17. I'm pretty sure if you're someone who's worked on trees for any period of time you know.
  18. Nice pics. Weeping willows break themselves up if they're not topped:biggrin:
  19. Thanks for the update, the ignition key/barrel problem seems very common.
  20. Conversely, sometimes a client takes a day off work to be there on some jobs, you cancel because of an absentee worker or some other reason, do you reimburse the client? Just playing devil's advocate really, unless there's a contract in place for these eventualities, you're stuffed.
  21. What's to discuss? You pay, end of story.
