  1. Ha I wouldn’t have had the balls to send the black walnut vid to any of my clients even though I have really wanted to sometimes.
  2. I would avoid non genuine as I’ve heard nothing but bad reviews on them unfortunately. Can’t say for certain but I would say ‘buy cheap buy twice’ would be the rule here.
  3. It’s been a really odd and quite year for me. Had a couple of big sites in January and now nothing. I’ve dropped down to myself and one other lad and still fine we are doing yard days (the log store it filled and all equipment is up together). Getting a bit worried now. I’m guessing Brexit may have something to do with it as I always seem to go quite around a general election as well. Keeping my fingers crossed it will pick up and putting a bit of money in to advertising. I looked back at this time last year and even though I was doing a couple of subbie climbing days I was doing 7 day weeks [emoji848]. I have had a few more calls this week though.
  4. That’s good to know. The cost doesn’t really bother me as much as peace of mind does but I just feel I may be getting done over a bit. I’ll find out next week. Cheers
  5. With the stuff going on with regards to not selling logs above 20% moisture how are they getting away with that? Or am I missing something?
  6. Thanks Wayne I will do. Going to spend a day ringing round people next week and seeing what people can offer.
  7. Hi people, So insurance is up for renewal at the end of next month and I’m going to spare a day new week phoning round and trying to get a better deal. I’m currently with Arborisk and have had no claims (touch wood). But the cost seems to be increasing a hell of a lot every time I renew, granted I have new tools etc but it still seems steep. I currently pay near the £2k mark for £30,000 worth of kit including chipper etc. This includes PL and EL. When I first used Arborisk it was £1k and it’s gone up a grand in 2 years. That on top of having to make the chipper and other kit so secure it can’t possibly be nicked makes me wonder if it’s worth took cover sometimes. That being said I would hate anything to happen and not be covered. I’m looking for people opinions for insurance and anyone to avoid. Maybe 2k is the going rate for a small firm but I’m hoping not. Any advice welcome. Thanks
  8. I realised that after I posted ?‍♂️
  9. I needed a whisky after this episode Mick. I think hearing a grown man scream as his skull is crushed by another mans bare hands is just something that will stay with me. On this topic, I can’t believe this has only just become a thread. By far the beat show I’ve seen and for once it exceeds the books. Gutted it’s ending soon.
  10. So he has basically lost out on 32.5k on his 1.4mil house what a poor bastard. I bet he can’t believe his luck. I’m sure he’s more pissed with the fact he spent time getting the trees down with his super awesome felling cuts.
  11. I just realised this thread was still going. It was pampas grass caught between the sides of the rollers. Spent a good couple of hours faffing around and picking as much of it out as possible. Then after being a bit jammy after it seems to have sorted its self out though out the day. Before I posted I checked all the usuals like the base plate and tried throwing some gnarly lumps through but in the end just a long time picking crap out was what was needed. Thanks for the input people
  12. So it’s finally sorted. I took the carb apart and gave it a clean out with carb cleaner. Sprayed all the electrical components with contact cleaner. Started up ran through a few logs let it ticking ticking over. No cutting out, idling better and seems to have better revs. It’s like a new saw again and it’s the first time cleaning a carb out has worked for me. Thanks for the input people. Appreciate it as always.
  13. Ok great. I’ve changed the spark first off as I had one knocking around. Blown the fuel lines out, checked the fuel filters and checked the lines for splits, done the card test on the coil gap. I’m thinking I’ll take the carb out and giving it a clean then going through the electrical wires. To be honest it sounds like a saw that isn’t idling correctly. I’ll keep searching. Thanks Spud
  14. So I chained the Solenoid and still no luck. The outside of the carb was pretty dusty so I wonder if crap had gone in further but it seems spotless inside. I can clean it out with some carb cleaner tomorrow but in my experience this early changes anything. Any idea how much it costs to get one retuned on computers? I miss the old tuning systems. My 200t is a 2007 model and still runs fine and if it plays up a simple tuning screw driver usually sorts it. Bloody modern tech eh ?‍♂️.
  15. I’m using that one. Thanks mate. ?
  16. Wow. I will be a lot more carful when working around lines now. BT have done them for free in the past. Didn’t realise they were charging so much now.
  17. What John said. I’ve never had lines taken down just priced to do the work with the faff. Open-reach are a pain in the arse to get in touch with even if you are a customer of there’s. Have you got any pics of the job?
  18. I would be surprised if a courts rule when against the OP give the fact he was made to wait so long and source material himself. But then they also never fail to surprise so what do I know. I had a nightmare with a customer who didn’t pay a few years ago, I quoted the job, put it in writing and once the job was done and she was happy she said I’ll pay it this evening so I sent my invoice and hadn’t been sent payment two weeks later so I send her a friendly email, and get a reply a week later saying sorry She’s been on holiday but has paid now. Still nothing in the bank so I went round and asked politely and said I’d take cash or cheque if it was easier. She then said I was out of order and that she only rents the property and. It was not up to her to pay. I spoke to a friend of mine who is a lawyer and she said don’t bother chasing it as you won’t get paid as the tenant will plead poverty. Plus I’ll probably end up drumming up loads of fees in the process and end up with more of an issue. The job was only a few hundred but I was pissed off non the less. That was in writing and all agreed with no mention of her not being the homeowner and I still lost out.
  19. If he hasn’t given you a written quote then he hasn’t got a leg to stand on. Tell him to stick it. If I made my customers wait that long and then up my price they would have the same attitude to me and I wouldn’t blame them for it. He’s lucky he got that out of you.
  20. Always asking the important questions Mark. Nice stuff Reg. I’d have been proper pissed off about the guy not moving the log store, that just makes a already pain in the arse job worse. I bet your ropes could stick out 2m horizontal before bending after that one.
  21. They should force the moron to replant a load of sizeable conifers where the branch was and warn him that if he touches them he’ll be paying out a million. That way he’s lost the battle. What a prat
  22. Yes it was a photo from yesterday
  23. Thanks. I’ll keep and eye on eBay. I’m in no immediate rush and I’ve managed for 4 years without one so another few months won’t make a difference.
  24. It’s really got me. Customer said it was reduced about 2 years ago and it’s put on 5-6ft of growth in that time.
  25. I’ll be checking over my insurance this weekend as I have new for old with arborisk. The joke is that the insurance companies are almost as bad as the thieving scum who take your kit, and they do it legally behind loads of small print. There was someone on here a year or so back said they didn’t get a payout because the insurance company said he wasn’t covered between the hours of 8pm and 6am or something like that as if thieves just clock off at 8 and say that’s enough now lads let’s all turn in for the night so we can get up bright and early for some more stealing.
