  1. Really nice to see some balance on here, instead of the normal 'blame the immigrants' comments
  2.

    <p>Hi Ty,</p>

<p>I have settled in very well thanks, I've registered with a few agency's, not heard a lot back yet but hopes remain high <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001_smile.gif.85de4dbf571682c521c1f17809dcc557.gif" alt=":001_smile:" /></p>

<p>I managed to find a great association that is helping me a lot with my french, 3 times a week for the grand total of €20 a year. I must be making progress as even my Missus can tolerate me butchering her language now haha.</p>

<p>Back to the UK in a couple of weeks for CS38 and 39 and a weeks work.</p>

<p>Sounds like a win-win regarding the chip, is that a regular arrangement with the power station? </p>

<p>I did chuckle to myself the other day when I found out that while Arb is considered an unregulated industry here, hair dressing is controlled!</p>

    <p>The beauty lies in the differences though eh <img src="<fileStore.core_Emoticons>/emoticons/001_smile.gif.85de4dbf571682c521c1f17809dcc557.gif" alt=":001_smile:" /></p>

    <p> </p>

<p>Hope the weather remains kind to you!</p>

  3. Moved some money around recently when the rate hit 1.4 does the old trick of writing 'happy birthday' on the packaging still avoid some import duty? as gifts are exempt. or is that an old wives tale?
  4. Always go 4" posts on 6x6 panels, those 3's just aren't man enough
  5. isnt it now the case that 98% of the worlds wealth is controlled by 2% of its population?, very sad indeed IMO
  6. Are you trying deliberately to misunderstand my post? I thought it was fairly clear that it was a matter of prospective, some people come here and take money out of the economy and others come here and put money into it. 'i.e the good outweigh the bad.' This has been proven by hard facts. no rose glasses here, in fact, Mine are distinctly turd coloured after reading some peoples opinions on how fellow humans should be treated......
  7. no one ever seems to remember that immigrants have always produced a net gain to the economy, i.e the good outweigh the bad.
  8. Ah yes, the RSPB......that font of unbiased scientific knowledge.......
  9. I would love to vote labour, they SHOULD be the party for the common working man, just cant find it in me to trust them!
  10. Yea, sorry for misinforming you, I've just been looking there, seems shocking to me. especially in an industry where fatigue can have a big part in peoples ability to make good decisions. I would think pretty carefully about only providing 20 Mins break to someone, especially considering that during those breaks workers are entitled to a lot of other things that are often overlooked in this industry. e.g toilets, hot water, drinking water
  11. Im pretty sure if you work 8 hours you are legally entitled to a total of an hours break over the duration of the day, unpaid.
  12. me too! Ive been tying a few basic knots, looking at the assessments schedules and doing a little bit of exercise. Just hoping that if i know some stuff before i start, i will be able to enjoy the courses more
  13. to clarify, it is currently declared SORN, and im pretty sure no-one is driving it as i have the keys with me 700ish miles away
  14. Yea i had a suspicion that might be the way to go, but what a system we have that forces people to try and cheat it!
  15. Im currently out of the UK and my car is tucked up at home, on my Parents driveway, Im coming home in May for a bit and i thought it would be nice to have my car to use for a few weeks, I've been looking at one month insurance deals that are offering me cover for on average £30 PER DAY! Bearing in Mind that my annual quote is around £350, are these people insane or are they just joking with me!?
  16. Yup, I echo poster above, i got some in me a while back, ended up with a 3 day stay in hospital, general anesthetic, and crutches for a few weeks...............get it sorted ASAP
  17. Marocco and Fuerteventura, the international reach of arbtalk knows no bounds! Spent a week on Fuerte last year, beautiful place, however my overriding memory is of turning green and losing my stomach on a glass bottom boat So I reckon my best chance is to head down to the agent and hope they accept my Quals on face value, if not return with a translation, I'm assuming this has to be from a certified/accredited company? Thanks for the help
  18. The efco strimmers are pretty good and hard wearing, 2 stroke though.......
  19. :Thanks for the replies, few more emails to follow up on now then! as always it seems if you have to look for an easy answer, it usually means it doesnt exist
  20. Ive read about the ECC, but ive yet to meet someone who holds it, or knows whether its equivalent to NPTC
  21. If you notice someone doing something unsafe, flag them up on it. they may not like it, but they will respect you for it.
  22. My local supplier offers this 15 years guarantee but only on Kiln Dried treated posts, couple of quid extra on the price
  23. Does anyone have any idea of the international equivalents of NPTC qualifications? I am currently engrossed in the thrilling task of CV writing, Having just completed it in English, I am now faced with the task of translating it all into french so that i may hand it over to my local employment agency.......... Ce n'est pas facile! I currently hold CS30&31 but I am travelling back to the UK in may to complete 38&39, is there an easy way to find out if a french/European equivalent exists? Hope my question makes sense
  24. What about the american/Australian style of metal T posts, with the hooks already cast in the take the horizontal wires? Like these; Metal T Section Posts - Mesh Direct Obviously only suitable for the intermediates but that's a big percentage of the posts
