  1. There are national awarding bodies for this, but I have yet to see someone advertising themselves as qualified in it, let alone meeting someone who has completed it. I believe NVQ offer a course in fencing
  2. Is this in any way related to fifty shades of grey?
  3. Does anyone by chance have a link for the new assessment schedules relating to what was formerly known as CS38 and CS39? the NPTC website is as far as i can tell, as much use a chocolate proverbial. I did have a quick search on here, but as the words 206, 306 and 'new' are too common it doesn't allow them in my search results. Thanks in advance.
  4. Little out of my depth there, but i would assume so as its one solid piece
  5. yea sorry to be a bit pedantic the whole thing is a moot point really considering you need to be FAC to own solid slug ammunition. Back to the OP, in theory great, in reality..........not so
  6. 13.31 The Deer Act also authorises the use of smooth-bore guns of at least 12 bore for shooting deer, firing a non spherical slug of at least 350 grains to kill deer on cultivated land, pasture or enclosed woodland if it can be shown that the deer were causing serious damage to crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber or other property, that such damage was likely to continue and that that action was needed to prevent this. This provision was intended to allow farmers and crofters who own a shot gun but not a rifle to deal with marauding deer.
  7. When did it change from being legal to use a shotgun with a solid slug on muntjac?
  8. We used the roof from an old transit once, to burn reeds as we went, was effective and not too heavy, was a long drag walking it in and out so weight was a consideration for us
  9. Yea I agree, but needs must sometimes, seems to me to be the middle ground between having help when you need and not taking on someone you cant keep busy. providing of course you can find a subby willing to do it.
  10. Anyone thought about/ looked into hiring on zero hours contracts?
  11. You can get special barb wire crimp sleeves which I believe work with the regular tool, just on a different notch in the jaws. Just tie off on the ends, with a high tensile knot if needed, (there are plenty of videos on youtube to show how, its really simple)
  12. Have to go against consensus here, always found problems with gripples, they never seem to go quite tight enough IMO, Tie off both ends to the strainers, cut the line in the middle, use your monkey strainers, join with a crimp and crimp tool.
  13. And there I was thinking that NPTC (and in general the UK training system) was regarded as one of the best in the world! I have seen UK companies offering to train European students, Because the high standards we demand are desirable to employers. Thanks for the info though, I'm sure ill find a silver lining somewhere Lets hope that spring rolls around and demand is high for everyone
  14. Perhaps i should have phrased it, 'will work for extensive education on how to overcome french bureaucracy relating to casual employment' There are some really useful threads on here that i have trawled through but sometimes its still not easy! Regards
  15. Hi all, I have recently moved to the Finisterre area of Brittanny, France, and I am looking for any kind of experience/ advice available. Having been here for a few weeks already and it not being in my nature to sit still for too long, i have begun to get itchy feet and i am looking to get back into some kind of useful work, I have some basic level french (having a french partner, and a couple of years of leisure time studying) but i feel the only way to get a real education is to be out there talking the language. If anyone knows of anyone companies locally who be willing to take on an intern of sorts, willing to work for little to no pay, i would appreciate the help. CV available on request, key points included; 6+ Years Experience in a fencing company 2+ Years NPTC Qualified (30&31) (maintenance, cross cutting and felling) Thanks all!
