  1. Hi Rob. Just seen your latest vid on bar spacers. Do the ones' that fit on the huskys' also fit on the dolmar/maki range of saws? I'm wanting to run a stihl 25" bar on my maki 7900. Thanks for any help.
  2. Will try to find time at the weekend to use it. They do seem well built and sturdy. I was expecting it to have that "budget" feel about it, but it hasn't. It all goes together accurately and the depth gauge measuring marks are pretty spot on. The company seem good to deal with and when you think that they mainly make ramps for wheelchair users, they can't afford to use low grade materials.
  3. Does the FREEPOSTAGE code still work when just ordering the spacers Rob?
  4. Can I run stihl bars on the makita if I install those little rings from Robd? 25" stihl bars seem to be cheaper than oregon and I have always liked stihl bars.
  5. I'm after a 24" bar and chain for my 7900 maki, anyone know anywhere cheaper than chainsdirect? Come to that, has anyone got a usable 009 mount 24" bar knocking about looking for a new home?
  6. Are there any cast metal parts on the real thing?
  7. Just using a metal rule, they are a smidge over 2mm. Not put it together yet, will do that tomorrow. Doesn't appear cheap and nasty on first impressions.
  8. I was hoping to be able to use the 18" bar on the new makita, but if the minimum is 20" it looks like more expenditure
  9. With all the business I have put their way from you lot, I think I should ask for a discount
  10. Should be here tomorrow or Thursday, so will give first impressions when it turns up.
  11. I have ordered the 36" model. Unless it is made of tinfoil, I can't see there being too much to go wrong. I know you get what you pay for etc etc, but I have always thought that the alaskans seem a little over priced for a few bits of metal and some brackets, just my humble
  12. On their web-site, it says that they have set up their own aluminium factory in China to be able to guarantee quality, so they may not be too bad for occasional usage. Might order one to see what they are like, can always send it back.
  13. Anyone bought one of these Alaskan MILL Chainsaw Milling Attachment 3 Sizes Available Planking Lumber | eBay Made by a company that specialises in aluminium and looks to be an exact copy of the alskans'.
  14. Only put half a tank through it and it feels really well built and free of vibes'. Looking forward to running it in
  15. What's the bar size range for these saws, I'm guessing 16" to 24"?
  16. I bought some for my little 021. They look decent enough, but I found it made the saw jumpy and vibey as if the rakers had been taken down. I did try to file a different profile on them without much luck. Went in the bin I'm afraid. The larger chains may be better though, can't comment on those.
  17. Yes, thanks for the link Max, perfect timing for me and saved me £70
  18. Same here, can't stretch to a pair though. Looking forward to it turning up.
  19. Me too, hope they have more than one:laugh1:
  20. Did you order one of these saws Maxnaggle, quite tempted to get one myself at that price. @Shavey, does the dolmar come close to that price?
  21. Funny how nature can sort itself out, without the continual interference of man and his desire to kill everything he doesn't like the look of. Grandpappy shot 'em, his grandpappy shot 'em etc etc Time to move on.
  22. Lived in the country all my life, worked on farms since 8yrs old, went to agri college and have worked outside in the countryside ever since.
  23. Are you training to be an arb truck
  24. Now that's proper education, small animals come from eggs
  25. A nest site is a nest site, regardless of the species. When we did our unit 5 training, we were told that a bird sitting in a tree with a twig in its' mouth, classes that tree as an active nest site. I can never work out the general hatred for corvids We wipe out so many small birds with our hedge removal, house building, farming practices etc etc, but somehow by persecuting corvids we make it all better. It can "inconvenience" the working day, but working with and around nature is all part of this work and just needs working around.
