  5. Richard Well done and keep at it, you will pick up the tips from this site about the finer details. The only way to improve is to keep on carving and push what you think your limits are, you will then develop and seek additional equipment and finishing methods. But focus on what your piece of timber will be when finished and don't deviate from that .... all the best

  7. Yes occasionally I carve on a grass verge alongside a lay by, sell a lot of stuff that way as people stop to rake a look or place an order. When I do carve there I clean up the sawdust to keep the council sweet Many thanks for your comments

  9. Thought i would put my most recent piece on here, a retirement present for someone. I carved it from memory after seeing some images on the web, some blow torch work and some oil needed.

  13. Thank you Gary, very much appreciate. Yes that owl in the pic should be in the circus, trouble is if it was carved that way people would think it was a carving mistake

  17. Thank Les, yes i have to work on the eyes a little, someone just told me to watch a youtube tutorial on drawing owls, then i would understand how to shape the eye..... thats what i will try
  18. Hi Dave, thanks for the comments Yes Woodfest will be here in no time not sure if im at the Woodfest standard yet but i will keep pushing and register my interest.
  19. Here is todays Owl, i wasnt sure if owls could rotate their heads through 180 degrees, i hope they can or it will never sell Chainsaw, carving bar and finger sander used, just need to burn the eyes and talons a little and then apply some oil.

  23. Todays Owl for the customer who wanted a carved owl represented on a piece of Fir tree from their own garden. Needs oil and a bit of burning to finish off perhaps.
