  9. Thank you for the very useful feedback FriarsGorse, i carved the details to head last and knew straightaway that the forehead just didnt look right and also the beak wasnt exactly the right shape. Thecarving sold for £80 yesterday when i had it on display, im not sure of prices etc yet but it covered the carving costs with regards to my time. I appreciate your feedback very much thanks again.

  15. Thanks Steve, yes you are right, i was using a branch stump from the main piece to carve the head and to utilise fully the wood i had, a mistake to try and make something fit the wood with my novice skills. I will get some decent pieces to carve from oneday perhaps. Cheers for the feedback.
  16. I have just completed this carving, again im looking to improve and so i would appreciate any feedback
  17. Awesome carving and detail
  18. I'm relatively new in comparison to many of the excellent carvers that have both replied and been referred too. But I'm local to Flintshire and have done some carving in Dolgellau recently. I have a portfolio if you would like to see some finished pieces.
  19. Excellent carving, captures all the characteristics of the wolf, nice one
  20. All the best Si, I still want to come over and watch you work oneday .....
  21. Thanks TGB and Ukulian and all the best
  22. Mull, Thanks for the comments it is very much appreciated and I did try and put a little smile on his face so as to not scare the kids
  23. Just thought I would post this picture of a young dragon I have just finished for a birthday present for someone on the 31st December. Carved from images in my head but based upon the larger Welsh Dragon. This carving is 24 ins tall by 12 ins wide, a little bit of blow lamp work and then finished with Tung Oil. Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for all your help
  24. Si, I haven't done any carving company either yet, I now have public liability insurance and the necessary saw tickets, I'm not yet turning professional, can we still carve in a ring alongsidec you guys who are in a different league. I'm hoping to enter at Woodfest Wales
  25. I did it as payment for a few loads of carving wood I had from the community council. It is a piece of Larch that was wind fallen last winter. I don't know what price I would put on it really, I have been asked to carve other Dragons by people who passed by when I was carving it. I suppose about £150 to £200, I m sure someone on here will give me an idea
