  1. I'm in North Wales and if you send me your email I will ping you some pics of carved owls that I have completed for customers
  2. Excellent piece of carving ... Enhanced by using just the chainsaw 👌
  3. Hi, husky 550 XP my dealer up here does them for £540... Ideal for my blocking out with the standard 15 inch bar........But everyone's choice suits them.
  4. They are looking good, nice effect from the black in the wood. I have some poplar here, it gives off a strange smell also ...... Or is it just me Anyway I'm impressed with the owls
  5. I was hoping to do the same myself, did you order it from http://www.theharrycan.de, I have emailed them to see if they will sell me a complete unit. Thanks Dervish
  6. Hey I like it very much.... Excellent piece of carving
  7. Many thanks for the info, Ed Robinson thought it might be the ms211, so I will contact Harald as you suggest, I'm willing to buy the saw and bar complete. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it very much.
  8. Sean, I should of had them off you sooner, they are an excellent item for the die grinder and have been used for the feather detail as well as eyes. You made me the 12mm and 25 mm which are used for my owls and birds generally, you can get different effects on the eyes dependent on how much pressure you apply when burning them in. I would recommend these for anyone who wants to replace the use of marbles for eyes . I will be buying some more of different diameter very soon.
  9. Hello everyone, I'm after some advice and then a contact if possible. I have been trying to order a Harrycane but have had no luck. I read on here that the MS170 was a suitable saw to fit it too. Unfortunately I have been told that they don't make one for the MS170. I'm looking to buy one from somewhere somehow, and I will fit it to any saw suggested by the manufacturer, I believe it's Germany, please can anyone advise on how I can get my hands on one, the bar or bar and saw complete.... The money is in my pocket waiting 😅 Thanks again Ian
  10. Yes if I can get hold of it, and it depends on the degree of rot, if the timber is just marked then that's ok, but if there is evidence of crumbling I will leave it or cut it out.
  11. No I used the tool for making the eyes ... In my die grinder, but I burned them in at an angle to give a semi circle shape. Shaun from the Spirit of Norfolk made me the tool for the die grinder.
  12. In a purely professional manner through the backplate
  13. Many thanks, as soon as I put the oil on it, the grain effect came straight out .. Thanks for your feedback it is appreciated. Ian
  14. Many thanks, I appreciate your feedback. I have it on eBay for £75 with 2 watchers at the moment. It will cost you £60 and the postage will be £10 with collect plus. Once again thanks for your comments Regards Ian
  15. Hello, I'm still new at this and I know it's not a website to promote individual carvings ... But I carved this woodpecker today and while I was at it there was a lot of interest from passers by.... An old piece of diseased oak gives it the pattern, Tung Oil 2 coats and that's it.... Oh and I used the 12mm tool that Shaun made for me at the spirit of Norfolk for the eyes
  16. I would keep them both of you can afford to, I have the same 2 saws with cannon carving bars fitted and they are spot on, sprocket change if you are going to use 1/4 pitch chain. You may also find that they both require the same starting technique, full choke from cold and they will fire on the fourth pull, choke off then, two more pulls and they will be running Good luck , once you have carved your first piece you will be hooked .
  17. Hello, I'm looking for a generator if you are looking to sell yours.
  18. Excellent .... It STIHL looks like a celtic sword ..... nice one
  19. I have read about the harrycane and the fact chat it was in a prototype form and built to order, is this still the case and is there on contact out there for more details Kind regards Ian
  20. Superb piece ..... I've seen those harrycane tools at work the effect you have got there is excellent, I may practice on waves if I can get hold of a harrycane
  21. Hi Shaun, I have sent you an order via your enquiries on your website, can you send me the PayPal details so I can sort out the pound notes. Kind regards Ian
  22. Many thanks indeed for the time to reply in such depth, I have been on the website and ordered one, I will as you suggest have a go at making one also. Many thanks again Ian
  23. Hello Can anyone give me advice on where I can buy a large flapper wheel for a drill, I have seen them used and was told you had to make them yourself. Kind regards Ian
  24. Thank you Andy, that's what I'm trying to gauge, is there interest in the animal enough for me to carve a few more.
  25. Hello all, Just thought I would post these couple of pics of a badger I have just carved from a piece of birch. I made it at the request of a lady for her husbands birthday, first time for a badger for me. I used some paint on the head but left the rest of the body natural with some blow torching and then Tung Oil. I have only been carving for 6 months, if anyone likes the pic I will post more as I carve. Thanks for looking Ian
