  1. The western distribution contractor guys that did our trees, said they had to leave 3 clear meters around the power lines. Apparently they survey the lines every five years.
  2. Honda Engine Torque specs 390 torque values
  3. Thanks for that, weight not a problem but the "built like a tank" is as I wish to get longevity from my bigger saw. I was going to go for one of the bigger husky's but from reading threads, the tank like bit seems to be missing from the newer models. I'd rather have a reliable donkey than a fickle racehorse. Do you have any idea of the bar mounts on the CS8002, can large husky bars be fitted? I ask because I want to mill a load of 18 - 20" larch for a pole barn I want to build.
  4. Get deer five foot from the front door, the missus used to wonder what was eating her plants. After the initial novelty, I now quite often awaken to the view of her ass end whilst she has her head out the bedroom window yelling at them! dam deer on Vimeo
  5. I'm looking for a bigger-ish saw, thinking about the Echo CS8002, anyone had/used one? What bars can be used with them, I'd like the saw to be able to double up and use with larger bar for milling cheers
  6. Queuing up to come over here ..... to get free money that your taxes are paying for. You are obviously not working hard enough (if you have time to post on forums) or we are not taxing you nearly enough. Regards HM Government
  7. on a tangent..... what I hate is the way sellers always seem to do: goods +postage +VAT = total it should be: goods + VAT + postage = total with most postage VAT is not chargeable and yet it is always charged. That 20% tax on postage over many years equals many many fewer pints for me
  8. Thanks - good to know. I have five very close to the east side of a south facing house, they totally block the light until about 11am so I think they have to go. Majestic trees, will also be interesting to see if one of those hitting the ground will "make the earth move" for the missus!
  9. Does Coast Redwood have any value in the UK or any use other than firewood?
  10. Most depression is formed from bad diet/inputs. The body is a complex electro chemical soup and modern foods, including grains, fake sugars, chemical salts, fluorides etc are are bound to screw with the brain. Then chuck in electronic gadget addiction on top and you are on a hiding to nothing. Get primal man, be the caveman again and feel a million years younger, it worked for me! Mark's Daily Apple
  11. 350 suzuki king quad with the high - low - super low gearbox, the super low is the business and will pull anything on wheels! With four wheel drive on, diff lock on, bottom gear and the missus sitting on the front rack for ballast, I am constantly amazed at what can be pulled. When thinning in tight spaces I drop the base of the tree onto a skid plate and use the quad to pull stuff down, so much quicker than winches. Best £1500 I've ever spent
  12. I thought it was gradually being accepted that ivy is benefical overall as it's non parasitic to the tree and just uses the tree for support. I remember doing searches on ivy and over the years the opinion seems to be changing to "leave it" unless you need visual inspection of the tree or the tree is exposed to strong wind because of the enourmous amount of wildlife it supports. Oaks have a very high wildlife support function and with ivy this increases even more. I tend to leave now tbh.
  13. You don't need doors at all. The two things that people hate are electricity and snakes. All you need is a sign saying "Beware of large electric snakes" You can now leave things unlocked and get a nice holiday out of your cancelled insurance policy as no one will nick anything anymore - honest!
