  1. Hi all, - few thoughts on Hoo Haa here - Firstly we got American/English/French involvement here ............. although Americans and English mostly share a common language how we use it can differ particularly when it comes to the perception of offence given by use of language. I think the Brits reading this thread will share a common thought of just why exactly is Craobh so upset, whereas Americans may feel "well, there's no need to be like that" although America is a big place & so I think they may have similar misunderstandings within their own borders if geographically far apart. Also, How people read a message may be different to the way the writer intended it to be taken, and state of mind before reading (or indeed writing) can affect how taken. and finally in case I'm boring you all (not that I'd care as gotta hide like a Rhino myself), this site has got a lot of diverse people on here. The content is generally from like minded people and therefore hugely interesting, often witty and occasionally controversial - because of so many on here we will all come across a small number of individuals we will disagree with, find their writing style abrupt or even a little rude (my all time fave so far for writing style is "Mountain Man" - respect - he tells it how it is and frequently makes me smile with his 'Dryness') - with all this good stuff going on all the time here why give it up cos of the odd occasion that you take something one way even though not necessarily sure how intended. So Craobh as an American might say (spot how careful I'm being lol) - "Do yourself a favour and get over this" - that was intended in a nice friendly way maybe with a pat on the shoulder rather than a in ya face way - cos the diversity on here mostly makes it really good and the occasional not so good for you............................ so what! this is too good to miss!
  2. I think he wants to know the actual technique of using the one strop to achieve this 2 foot loop choke, which can't be properly understood from that photo - for that matter so do I lol looks great but haven't got a clue - will go & play later to find out.

Mechanix M-Pact 3 Hard Knuckle Covert Gloves through Amazon (£39.95) - they're ace with Kevlar knuckle protection but with great dexterity feel too - expensive but good. by Mechanix
  7.:lol:Yep I was - silly me wasn't thinking - meant the Climber though all along - still think he's better off with a Knut.
  8. Good tip with Hitch Hiker - instead of clipping harness/bridge direct to bottom Hiker hole through legs - introduce a carefully measured length lanyard (homemade) from Hiker to harness - this way you pull from underneath the Hiker and everything self-tends! Making sure you can still release friction hitch from above
  9. Your VT legs are too long to the Hiker should be snug up under VT thereby lifting Krab up and clear of VT. Also i think your Prussic chord looks a bit close to rope thickness (but not clear, could be wrong there). And finally i found the VT a nuisance with Hiker set up - when set correctly it starts smooth then gradually binds up - whereas the Knut is brilliant with Hitch Hiker.

  16. Why not just quickly go through Ivy all around trunk 2'above and 1' below choice cut height - the Ivy will just fall away from trunk leaving you a 3' work area to simply fell it into the drop zone you mentioned - simples! If your gonna use Digger you wanna push it over or have s steel cable longer than height of tree and root bowl otherwise you might end up dropping it on top of Digger - clear area and drop whole thing it'll be quicker, easier and safer.
  17. Hi Adam, I'm only on page 5 st the minute and wanted to say to you that your Thread (& explanations) are brilliant! I'm a beginner and can follow everything your saying just fine and finding info invaluable. For those who are making additional positive contributions - Good On Ya! For those (albeit experienced guys no doubt) who are just saying they disagree with this that or the other and merely 'Dissing' what your conveying - leave him to just get on with it as for less experienced people this is all good stuff and when we ourselves have years of experience as some of the Critiques then maybe we can decide for ourselves what snippet of info is 'unimportant' to us. But when you wanna learn MORE info is GOOD so MORE of this please - doing a great job! Now I've got that off my chest I'll get back to page 5 thanks!
