  1. Couldn't agree more!!
  2. Got a tacho in the Fastrac, so already sorted with the cards, that's a start I suppose
  3. Best get my tacho ordered for the new motor
  4. I have a 1x42, and its gravity fed, not pumped, would of thought yours would be the same, could be wrong....? Pull the hose off and get an air line to blow air through, just to make sure its clear. The oil will be slightly thicker with the cold weather. Hope that's of some help?
  5. Can I order one bulk bag of logs, 12 bags of kindling and 10 packs of firelighters. One month on, same order....... All these years I have been doing it wrong! Your meant to relight the fire after every log!!!
  6. So pulling a trailer with a combined weight of over 3.5t, shouldn't you have an operators license, unless its a "dual purpose vehicle"?
  7. Some times, if you didn't laugh, you would cry with some of the crazy things customers say
  8. Would this work with slab wood? Do you hire the machine out? Based in Angus.
  9. Wow, impressed you got money back. Did you some sort of legal representative to sort this out? See my problem with VOSA is, one person tells you one thing, and the other person tells you another, and turns out both are wrong, and then its joe blogs here trying to earn a living that gets stung. I run a JCB Fastrac, which VOSA love, so i have had plenty of encounters, and everyone working for VOSA was singing different songs. The other thing i didnt realize, was that they can put a prohibition on your trailer. I thought you needed an operators license before they could prohibit stuff.
  10. Bilke S3? Log splitting safely and quickly | Bilke
  11. Oak briquettes are very good, as are bark briquettes. Bark has a strong smell though, when burning
  12. My maths comes to under 3.5tonnes. The weigh bridges maths, may tell a different story......
  13. What records do you keep for your tacho? Print it out every night, and keep them in a file?
  14. Woman at VOSA said you need a tacho, if the combined weight is over 3.5 tonnes......oh joy
  15. That's an impressive set up. What's the reach on the crane? What powers the crane?
  16. That's a new one to me, no operators license, but requires a tacho... Iam going to phone VOSA. Doubt they will eve know.
  17. Maybe i have this wrong, but..........? "Dual Purpose" vehicles: Under Shcedule 3 (2) of the goods Vechiles (Licensing of Operators) Regulastions 1195 "a dual purpose vehicles and ANY trailer drawn by it" is identified as exempt from goods vehicle operator licensing. The dual purpose category generally includes cars, estates, pickups (with a second row of seast (crew cab) only), and domestic 4x4 vehicles such as Land Rovers, Jeeps and other similar vehicles below 2040kgs unladen weight. I thought as it was operator license exempt, it would be tacho exempt? Why would you have a tacho and no operators license?
  18. Trailer and crane looks the business right enough
  19. A fold up hiab, or a timber crane style, that's stretched the length of the trailer? It is difficult, people expect you to deliver in some tight spaces, difficult to have an all round delivery combo
  20. Just bought a Ford Ranger super cab, as going to put a tipping body on that for the loose deliveries, and a crane on the trailer for the bulk bags. Always good to hear peoples opinions
  21. What would you suggest then instead of towing a trailer?
  22. Tacho exempt, using a "dual purpose vehicle" to tow the trailer.
  23. Looking to fit a crane in a 10x5 Ifor Williams trailer to unload bulk bags of firewood. Anyone done this, pros/cons?
  24. Is it possible to place the bundle on a pallet? Just a thought, saves carrying the pieces over to the log boiler.
  25. Where in the world are you?
