  1. We have a Lantra PTI running on June 13th-15th with only two places left so book asap if interested. Course will be held on West Dartmoor, Devon. Cost £495 per person. Call us on 01822 832232 or email [email protected] if interested. Lynher Training
  2. All NPTC test centres will have access to this information. You should explain to him that your insurance will need concrete evidence of his qualifications especially as they need to be refreshed every 3-5 years to meet HSE regs. Then ask him to contact the local (or any) NPTC test centre explaining that he is unsure when he achieved these qualification as he's lost the certs and when he needs to be refreshed and hopefully they should be able to look it up. He might also be able to get a screenshot of the info for your records. But ideally he needs to apply for new certs. Alternatively if he looked to do some additional/next step NPTC training +assessment; this would generate a new card listing all his NPTC quals. If he says that he has 201,202,203(CS30/31) then you could look into him achieving 301(CS32) at your local centre and they would check their records to ensure he's already completed the 201,202,203(CS30/31). Hope that helps.
  3. We have a 3 day Lantra Professional Tree Inspection running from the 9th November. We are on the Devon Cornwall Border if you fancy a trip away!
  4. No problem. We offer the City and Guilds/NPTC Level 3 in Forestry and Arboriculture for Ex-military/ELCAs and if you look at the qualification handbook (link below) there is a reference section at the end of each unit which will give you quite a library! Just read through the units and see what interests you and the books available for that topic. http://cdn.cityandguilds.com/ProductDocuments/Land_Based_Services/Forestry_and_Arboriculture/0077/0077_Level_3/Centre_documents/0077-03_L3_Qualification_handbook_v2.pdf Or the Level 2 Forestry and Arb link: http://cdn.cityandguilds.com/ProductDocuments/Land_Based_Services/Forestry_and_Arboriculture/0077/0077_Level_2/Centre_documents/0077-02_L2_Qualification_handbook_v2.pdf Hope that helps. Cornwall is a great especially when the sun is shining like today. Lynher Training.
  5. Hi Gbuggle, Here at Lynher Training we offer several ELCAs packages which are generally arranged in a block to accommodate travelling down and staying locally for a few weeks. This offers a mixture of theory and practical courses to get you started in your new profession. As suggested above, having time with an experienced employer will stand you in good stead but also do talk to local employers about what kind of qualifications/certificates there are looking for so you get the training you need to make a good start. We are happy to talk you through anything so did get in touch if you'd like some further advise. Hope that helps. Good Luck Lynher Training
  6. Hello, If it is just for your own use then you'd only need to achieve the Lantra Chainsaw Maintenance, Crosscutting and Felling to 200mm (depending on if you are felling anything larger). This Lantra certificate is excepted by insurance firms. The training including the felling is around 4 days and has an integrated exam (so no separate assessment like NPTC). Go to the Lantra website and search for a local training centre. We charge £375 down here in Devon/Cornwall. You may also be able to do an experienced operator option in two days for less cost but you'll have to check with your local centre. Hope that helps.
  7. Hi All, We have a NPTC 301 and 302 course (previously CS32/34) running from 24th November to 28th November in Devon. This 5 day course costs £670 including an integrated assessment for the NPTC 301 unit (Trees over 380mm). There will be an additional cost of £130 for the Unit 302 assessment (Sever Uprooted Trees) which can be paid after the training course. If you are interested in attending then call us on 01822 832232. Thanks Lynher Training
  8. Hi Mick, We are a military/ELCAs authorised training centre and organise training for ex-military from all across the UK. Some of our candidates pay for themselves to do a Lantra basic chainsaw course (maintenance, cross-cutting and felling to 200mm diameter) before leaving the army so that they can learn and practice more with the saw and then once they leave the military and start their qualification with us, they do an upgrade course ready for their NPTC assessment. Saying that it sounds like you are already going to be confident with the saw so doing an NPTC course as part of your qualification would be sufficient for you. Lynher Training 01822 832232
  9. Hi All, We are running a 307/309 training course (previously NPTC CS40/41) on the 17th November at Bodmin. The cost for the 5 day training is £680 including an integrated assessment for the 307. There will then be an additional cost of £250 for the 309 assessment which can be paid after the training course. (NB - You are required to have already achieved your NPTC 308 (Or previously CS39) in order to take part in this training) If you are interested in attending then do contact us on 01822 832232. Thanks. Lynher Training
  10. We'd recommend 'The Tree Machine' at Bodmin for LOLER testing.
