  1. Don't know if any use to you guys but i've just listed a load of books on ebay from when I did my degree, there are some real rare ones in there including the usual Shigo/Matheck etc, if you pop me an offer say you're off here and i'll accept a lower price. https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/elspedo/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=
  2. Apologies that does look really dark on my work computer too, didn't seem to bad at home. Here is another image I have found of it:
  3. Hi all, I'm doing a study on some veteran trees as part of my course and have come across the veteran oak near me via the ancient tree hunt site, could anybody shed any light on the possible causes of the bottle-butt for me to research? My initial thought was pseudoinonotus dryadeus but I have been unable to find any fruiting bodies so it's making me look for other causes. Thanks
  4. I'm doing the FdSc at Myerscough and like you have found there is too much of a reliance on just pumping out the work and not really giving the pupils any support, many of the pupil to tutor message boards go unchecked and emails go unanswered for weeks having to chase them multiple times to get an answer so i've found it really hard to get answers on specific things which I know has affected my grades. I've made the decision not to carry on to the BSc with Myerscough because of this as I don't think it's worth my time/money if it's not being supported at the other end.
  5. 100% Pay peanuts and get monkeys! I'm constantly surprised trying to get in to this industry with potential employers trying to offer day rates which work out well below minimum wage.
  6. My exact problem! I buy the books expecting to take them in-in some kind of Matrix speed reading fashion and then procrastination takes over!

<p>Hi, the majority of the stuff I do now is working for charities/volunteer organisations, which has been good up to now and has put me through most of my training but I could with making some money out of it.</p>

    <p>Cheers</p>

  8. Hi all, I'm ideally looking for a full-time groundsman position but if anybody can give me any weekend work to build up my experience it would be much appreciated. I'm in my final year of the online FdSc in Arb at Myerscough and have the following: Lantra - Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting Lantra - Chainsaw Basic Felling Techniques AQA – Dry Stone Walling FATE – First Aid at Work CIEH – Level 2 Health & Safety in the workplace CIEH – Level 2 Principles of Risk Assessment
  9. Cheers guys. Been looking on eBay but closest one to me is 170 miles away... I'll keep an eye out!
  10. Afternoon all, We've just moved house and the previous owners have left a load of old ercol furniture most of which are just missing the spindles. Rather than see them go to waste I would like to attempt to fashion something myself. I've used a lathe back in college but that's now 15 years ago and I don't have a clue where to start. I need to make about 50 of spindles of varying length (biggest would probably be 18" in length). What equipment do I need to give it a go? I'm not looking for anything too expensive ~£300 as i'll probably make these and attempt a few bowls and then get distracted by something else.
  11. Have you got any better pics? Are you in Nelson, Lancs?
  12. Looks like another book needs adding to the Amazon wish list then!
  13. Evening, where are you getting your legal references from? I'm writing an essay for my degree at the moment and finding legal references hard to come by. Cheers
  14. Looking at the dates of the OP he should have already completed this and be looking for the next challenge
  15. I'm still unable to watch it because of the SME content, it's because you're using music owned by sony (Sony Music Entertainment) in the video without purchasing it/permission. There are plenty of creative commons music websites where you can use music as long as you attribute the artist.
  16. Doesn't work on my PC as contains "content from UMG". Guessing they own the copyright to the music?
  17. Ye this is only for five trees, i've used QGIS when plotting hundreds of trees when crown spread wasn't important as it's just a case of dragging my GPX file in. I have found this plugin which I think will do what I want though: https://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/ArcheoCAD/ There is also: QGIS Python Plugins Repository But i've not tried that yet.
  18. Thanks for the fast reply, i'll have a crack at it in AutoCAD then!
  19. Afternoon, For one of my assignments i'm having to do a site survey, it's only a few trees but I need info on crown size and would like to include RPA too. I'm looking to plot the trees with QGIS (as it's free). I've got my GPX file and can drop them on to a map but is there anyway of using say an excel sheet with crown spread details (N,E,S,W) to get a scaled symbol? I can get it to do a perfectly round circle but obviously no tree was created perfectly round. I've also got Autocad so if there is any easier way of doing it in there I would be interested.
  20. I've been building up my collection over the last few months too:
