  1. But if your looking for fence post banging, a bit of flailing, splitting and moving logs around you may get more bang for your buck with a digger too.
  2. You can stick a loader on most of them but tbh for the cost of a new loader and fitting you could just buy a forklift or old telehandler and they’ll lift two bags of 1t plus at a time. A little tractor would struggle with over 300kg without either killing it or you.
  3. Got a new Holland tce 45, mainly because it fits on a trailer so easy/cheap to take to jobs. Runs a 6’ flail, 8’ twin roller chipper and 250kg hammer post knocker fine. Bad sides are can’t really tow much with it and it needs weights on the front. I put a 7’ hydraulic link box on it and although it could lift it no problem you would only be able to drive in straight lines! Cheap as chips to run, easy to operate, not much soil compaction and good value compared to full size Tractor provided you stay within its working parameters.

    Lighten the steering bill?
  5. Hans Roslings factfullness is a great book to get a better grasp on how even though it feels like it about to go tits up, the world is actually a lot better for almost everyone these days. Counter intuitive but has some hard to argue against facts that help see the future more positively.
  6. Mines has done forward and not backwards several times over the years but always been a dodgy connection. But this is on or off and won’t change with fluid temp so probably not the case for you but easy one to rule out. Swap the spool connector round to try it. If it then goes forward you know it’s electrical and not mechanical. I replaced the forward/reverse switch with an old toggle to get by but got a new unit complete for about £200. It’s a doddle to replace. You our should see a dramatic improvement in hyd filters and oil change too so worth doing anyway the filters are cheap enough but it takes a fair bit of oil.

True Gary but sandwich/coffee storage capacity needs are higher priority

When the dumper doesn’t turn up desperate measures kick in. Not going on the road luckily, just have to pull it off in a field. Must be 8-10t clay? Hope the rover pulls it!
  9. That’s cracking value, I’m paying £3.90 plus vat for a 15yr 110mm softwood post alone, another £8/strut and £27/strainer. How much are the oak stakes down your way gdh? Are they split or just peeled rounds?
  10. You pornstars are always complaining!
  11. £8/m good quality ht stock, 3ht flat wire or 2 barb for me assuming less than 100m pulls, but probably more like £6-7 if you can get a good straight level pull. Intermediate every 2m.
  12. my order cancelled by amazon today, includes link to one at proper price £719. No reason given for cancellation though.
  13. And it comes with espresso!
  14. That’s what I’ve always thought and why I was keeping mine for posts in water
  15. Any other good uses for it? I’ve had some laid up for a while that I was going to mill for deck posts over a pond but it never came off and a shame to put into firewood. Does it rot quickly if not damp?
  16. Right on brother! ?
  17. The most amusing or annoying bit depending on current mood is when you say leave any packaging out on the next delivery day and we’ll reuse it meaning the veg box, egg box we delivered etc and instead you get a load of plastic trays from the supermarket beans from Kenya, strawberries from Spain and potatoes from fucking Egypt! Only a few days they were telling you “oh yeah, we really want to cut down packaging/food miles/emissions/waste” ultimately wether its food, wood or anything else the majority of the public what the cheapest and most convenient option to them, right then and don’t give a shit about the implications.
  18. Very true, we’ve got a small veg box scheme and after many comments about 10 years ago had to start lining the boxes with newspaper to stop the odd bit of soil from a potato or carrot coming into contact with the housewives worktop. We sell everything loose, or in a paper bag if absolutely needed. We are very small. The big box schemes all use plastic wrapping.
  19. Looks exactly like my turkey necking device...now it can also have a use through the summer!

    Look out!

My last one went to get cash for a tractor, tbh the way people drive these days I don’t miss it. Also I was occasionally a bit of a twat myself on the bike and couldn’t afford to be not working if things went wrong. Once they started putting lap timers on bikes it was getting silly! Miss the crack and camaraderie massively but can’t go to the racing or rally in a car really!
  21. Mix of things. Price (as usual) known quantity dealer 20 miles away, same yanmar engine as I’m used to. If I wasn’t scared of finance and knew anyone who had one I’d have gone kobelco sk26 with 4 lines and full rototilt with grab cassette. But don’t think I could justify the £40k, it’s not something I use everyday so doesn’t feel right (something about feeling guilty if I had top spec kit and didn’t use it fully). And tbh if I’d had anymore money I’d be looking at the 6t doosan, awesome bit of kit, perfect in a dump trailer behind a little tractor And only £33k new with 4 lines and hyd hitch as standard. Even had 3yrs 0%. If I didn’t enjoy being married I might of signed up!
  22. look at the other sellers bit and you still get them one is even cheaper but i imagine it must be dodgy, I've taken a risk as amazon will have to refund credit card it doesn't turn up anyway.
  23. Got 13 in stock now, just ordered one..as above will let you know if it turns up/is real etc!
  24. Picked up the new digger today and was pleased it went on the trailer. Like a complete dick I checked all the specs extensively but never even thought about track width compared to the other machines, naively assumes they’d all be the same. Had 40mm to spare in the end!
  25. Had a little kubota 4wd with a rotovator on the back. Paid £2000 for it, used it for 2 years, otherwise laid up and un serviced. Sold it for £2500 when I decided it should go to someone who would treat it a little better. It was bombproof, and I’d highly recommend one but size implements according to hp. Also they are physically tiny so check you can fit on one first!
