  1. I suspect you left a zero off , Forst tr6 and GM1928 service schedules say change hydraulic oil at 1000
  2. I didn't do very well on getting people interested in our logpile, black mark on annual review and reallocation of job looming:thumbdown: Anyway the boss has had an offer he couldn't refuse and everything is heading out to a new biomass market.
  3. and of course if there are sufficient cases of accidents with these saws the HSE will, again, try and have sales of them stopped.
  4. NO I think you are right and so you should be with that sig. I have not had time to re read the leglislation but a quick search on arbtalk archive shows much as you say and I was unsure. So the change after 2013 is only that the trailer being towed cannot exceed the weight of the towing vehicle. As an aside I have never been keen on trailers with overrun brakes being towed by lighter vehicles. As I said I think this bit of the licensing change was more to do with punters pulling caravans with cars rather than us commercial users because how many vans able to tow, say 1200kg, have a MAM of less than 2300? I can only think of a Kangoo from our fleet.
  5. Yes you'd need B+E as soon as the trailer MAM exceeds 750kg with the one exception that if the MAM of the tow vehicle plus the MAM of the trailer doesn't exceed 3.5 tonnes you may still tow with B obtained before 2013 after which B entitlement is further restricted to only 750kg I think. As far as I can see this exception will be use to car drivers wishing to pull a caravan as not many commercial vehicles will be that light. I'd advise any B licence holder in this trade to go for the +E while you are still young.
  6. Price seems to have dropped to 51 quid deliverd with a sharpener, I already have too many axes so I guess I won't be comparing them.
  7. I would if they're paying and have a safe working method, means less to feed through the Heizohack which is running at a loss currently. Shame the bloke is so far from Surrey.
  8. Unless the groups who are volunteering for the community work have their own insurance I think volunteers have to be treated as if employess for insurance purposes, can of worms. Employees liability insurance is a statutory requirement.
  9. Drums still need to be in a bund. See if someone like Rye oils will deliver 500 litres and pm me if you'd like a couple of weeks borrow of a little plastic bunded fuel station.
  10. The lesions look a bit like the damage from anthracnose, which can be from a number of fungi, but I didn't think birch was susceptible. If it is I don't think there is a cure but it's not a killer, just the bits beyond any girdling die.
  11. Poor Grumpy, leave him be. I have had white finger since 16 from motorbike days, didn't stop me using a saw for 35 years but gloves are worthwhile if you can stand them.
  12. We have had 2 warranty repairs and one being discussed with Stihl currently as over 18 months old. The lads seem to like them because they are so light and powerful and they often have to walk a long way to a worksite.
  13. B1 for storage and B2 for light processing (no noise or discharges principally)
  14. The telehandler doesn't sort the logs from the rubbish very well, the grab and tip should have been a bit better. I'd like to mechanise the yard a bit but don't have the budget atm

    Dead oak

We have an ugly bit like that in the yard and several better near Gatwick if anyone wants to look.
  18. No need to worry there's plenty there. I'm trying to find a small 360 and seletograb to do some sorting as the forwarder crane isn't quick enough. I'll bung the softwood through the heizohack but need to find an engineer familiar with the HATZ 4 cylinder engine as it sounds a bit rough and overheating though the latter may be just the screen getting clogged too quickly. Woodchip is moving now but not much margin over loading costs.
  19. OK got it now thanks, That's the Dukes Head roundabout, Copthorne Hotel is the first one off the motorway which I pass on my way to work.
  20. If you are delivering bags then why have a tipper. A dropside can come in at around 2 tonne giving a 1500kg payload less driver's weight. How many builders bags of 20% mc is that? About 8 I reckon and would struggle to fit them on.
  21. I have driven around to see what I could find but nothing obvious, have you any more detail?
  22. So it gets you a prohibit notice for carrying chip in a tipper without a sheet?
  23. We're pretty full up atm but if you get desperate and the rings are cut small I'll have some for my personal use, how much weight do you estimate
  24. No takers for this on the other thread but if anyone's interested in a fresh load of mixed hardwood please contact us. 01293821321 ask for Steve D or Andrew Picture in this link http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/86138-diy-firewood-2.html#post1279014
  25. We are just off junction 10 of the M23 near Gatwick. also large amounts of random sizes mixed hard and soft arisings.
