  1. I am just stepping up to the big log,a bit out my depth. This log was fire wood last week I have two more days to cut it up.before winter wheat is sown.need to get to see someone do quarter sawn.
  2. Am I right in saying that you want as little as possible sapwood in the end product ie beams.
  3. Yes its big 56 dia 25ft long.turned it on its side now so it reducing the slabbing size to 42. First time doing a large oak and the inexperience is showing. Would it fit in your new mill big J . We are reducing the length to 16ft Saturday as the the farmer would like to sow a crop.

  6. Milling large oak 22ft long 56 wide.we kept hitting hard spots in the timber witch bent the bar stopping me milling.
  7. This is tomorrow's job 30ft +oak,hopefully to be cut into beams but it does look as if it has a bend in from the pictures.5ft dia would like to get it done in the day,we will see.
  8. Husky 135 nice little saw.will stand a lot of abuse.
  9. Not a turner but looking at it,two vase would come out of it nicely getting the bur in the body of each one ?

  12. Each tree I mill a large piece goes to a local turner enough for several bowls,i them get one back several months later. So the bowl collection slowly building up.
  13. Best day I have had ,was making beams of a 22ft oak 30 dia. Around the 10 hour mark.two days to recover.
  14. I was at school being taught ITA hence useless at spelling .
  15. Cut roots ruffle to desired level,scew two or three scews in two root ,place ply wood on top and ajust scews to get level.I then used the alaskenmill to do the cut.
  16. I used my mill and a lump of plywood to level one similar to this.
  17. I Would personally go husky 365 or 372 seams to be the choice for a really reliable saw.

  19. Yes very nice,I to use a car and this would be perfect.But a few alterations needed to include the vertical mill.
  20. A big ash failure.if she had not slipped backwards it would of taken a building out.
