  1. Just had a look in your portfolio you've got some good images in there. Keep up the good work. I have also spent a lot of time on Swarky gravels over the years as well.
  2. I'me in Stenson. Used to fish the Trent when it was DAA and the Railway and we used to shoot spring wood and the triangular set of fields from Lount to the old Breeden garden centre and back to Spring wood 30 years ago when Mr Blunt had the land
  3. Is pic 6 the outer wall at Staunton Harold just past Spring wood on the way to Lount cross roads
  4. Pic 8 is the river Trent at Swarkestone by the Crewe and Harper pub
  5. Hi Karl1991 PM sent.
  6. One more for R Tech kit. I have an AC/DC tig unit from them and its been faultless Also post a thread on here mig-welding.co.uk and see what these people have to say. There are some very knowledgeable people on there
  7. I used to have loads of issues with Chitylink when they were around. It wasn't only the drivers, the local depot were totally incompetent, ignorant and...... It got to the point of when ordering items the first question I would ask the seller was "Who is the courier you use" and if it was my favourite green and yellow company my next question was, will you use a different courier please or I will take my business elsewhere. More often than not they would use a different company. If they didn't I would put my money where my mouth was and find another seller or do without. I know your pain, and waking up on that christmas morning and putting the TV on. The first item was that the little company had ceased trading. Pity you couldn't wrap that pressy. That made my day !!!
  8. When I put a 3 phase lathe motor into my household supply I used a company called Drives Direct who make inverters and the like. Their website has loads of stuff on it that is way over my head so it might be worth having a look on their site for ideas or info. These people are more than helpful and will talk shop with you even if there is no sale. I have no connection with this company other than being a very satisfied customer of theirs. They are based in Kirkby in Ashfield Notts. They might be able to point you in the right direction
  9. Good first attempt. The next one needs two full slices of fried bread, then that little pie will sit nicely between the two pieces of bread and the runny egg and brown/red sauce can run down your arms and drip off your elbows. Then proper brekky!!! along with a big bucket of tea to wash it all down. Can I place my order now please.
  10. I bought a Myford lathe a few moths ago which had a 3 phase motor and I had no idea what I needed to do to run it from 240v until I contacted these people Drives Direct - Digital Phase Converters - Home Page they were more than helpful. All I needed to do was send them a photo of the motor label and they told me which inverter I needed and also how to wire it. Everything works as it should but the only problem I have now is working out how to turn metal properly !!!!
  11. I bought a petrol 11 ton Riko just before Christmas and can't fault it. I did post at Christmas about it on this forum
  12. have a word with these people. I bought a splitter from them just before xmas and they are Arbtalk traders. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/95304-stock-clearance.html
  13. It also depends on what type of vehicle you use. Landrover door skins are NOT steel so not very magnet friendly
  14. I live close I'm on my way. Bugger its raining I don't want to get my hair wet. never mind maybe next time.
  15. The machine I bought is the fixed table vertical 2 speed 10 ton ram with the axe pulling into the wood as opposed to pushing into the wood with the 6.5hp Honda engine. The model I have is not displayed on his website but the product code is COLLASSO100. I will have a look tomorrow for the model name/number If you go to his place my satnav took me to a unit a few hundred yards past his yard using his postcode
  16. I would just like to give a public thank you to Stephen Cabrol and his team at Riko UK. I went over to see them on Monday morning 21st to have a look at their range of log splitters. He was able to display a range of splitters for me and was more than happy to pull machines off pallets and run them as well as to wire up an electric machine for me to see running. Nothing was to much trouble. Yes I did purchase one of his machines and we hoped that the courier may have been able to deliver the machine between Christmas and new year. His courier contacted me yesterday for a delivery time and it was delivered today, to within a few minutes of 48 hours from when I placed the order. Pretty dam good service if you ask me especially in the run up to Christmas. It makes a change to see some good old fashioned personal service in this day and age. have a good break all.
  17. Thanks for the replies guys.
  18. Has anyone bought or use any of the Oxdale Products log splitters. Any good or bad reports of their kit?
  19. I am in the market for a vertical style log splitter, that meet or come close to the following criteria but not necessarily in this order For home personal use only. Preferably engine powered, not electric and quiet to run. Petrol/Diesel? Tonnage pressure? Hopefully portable but not necessarily towable UK manufacture. Good spares backup. Reasonable knife recycle speeds It will be kept outside all year. Not kept undercover. So will need to come with a cover. Horizontal space is limited for its location, so a vertical splitter is the only option. Able to split large rounds or biggish sections currently have some 36”dia rounds No problems splitting odd shapes or gnarly lumps Able to test or see one working for real not just watch video footage Simple to use so her indoors can work it (hopefully a nice big xmas pressy for her) Have a 4 way knife as well as a straight blade Arbtalk sponsor or forum member Am not able or willing to travel inside M25 ring as I am a non LEZ supporter (apparently) so that will rule out any companies inside the M25 for viewing. Will consider second hand or ex demo if price is right Recommendations please from users as well as suppliers.
  20. My mower only cuts and I prefer to let the cuttings cover the brown muddy bits which makes it all look much greener.
  21. I am getting a bit of earache off the missus. The garden is looking a bit of a mess. Apparently it's my fault, all I have been doing is cutting some kindling, splitting a few logs and using the chainsaw to cut some bit bits down to size. I have told her the off cuts will all rot down even though I brushed some of the bits into the borders, but apparently thats not a good enough excuse. So. I need one of those garden vac/blower thing's. What are the good and bad ones out there? It will need to chew lumps of bark and bits of stick. Is a petrol one that much better than electric? What do I need?
  22. Sorry to hear you are moving on, but you obviously have good reason to. I would be interested in one of your Tirfors if they have good shoes and reasonable cable. Are they both the same size?

    Wood ash

I save all my ash for a neighbour. He has an allotment and can't get enough of it, so he will be happy with my willow ash this winter

    Wood ash

I was struggling to understand why I had extra ash as the log size is similar to last years supply but looking in the wood store today some of the lumps of willow seem to have bark thats nearly 1 inch thick. At least I have learnt something new and useful today. Cheers !!!

    Wood ash

Last winter I had an amount of Willow that was well seasoned and being as it was free burnt very well. This year I have another batch of well seasoned Willow which is burning equally as well but I am sure this batch is leaving me with twice as much ash for the same volume of Willow as I burnt per fire last winter. I am using the same fire ( B & G infire 800) and each burn is for roughly the same time and a fire is fuelled from the same log basket so volume of wood per burn is similar. Any idea's as to why I have extra ash? Yours confused :confused1:
