  1. Two spaces have become available for a medium tree course running near J6 m25 south east on 19-21st September next week. Good site and proper trees. message for more info thanks
  2. how does a larger bar make it safer????
  3. Turn up prepared, spare bar chain files wedges extra fuel the list goes on. if you need some advice ask!! usually the older they are the better the advice, even if its filled with sarcasm/ profanity. measure twice cut once. no tree is the same. look after your body I know this sounds daft but handcutting is hard graft but satisfying. slow is fast but fast is slow
  4. Give it a go it’s not hard to convert a standard chain
  5. Yes bit grabby and more vibes. 80-85 degree side plate angles work well in the hardwood. personally I just use it for softwood applications, just annoying when you hit some shite those corners take some work to get them back
  6. Try the vallorbe diamond shape one, I can’t tell what you have there. Never really found a difference in from going inside to outside and vice versa. hardwood is where it gets interesting!!
  7. Are you sure you don’t have a prototype husky mk two? 🤔
  8. Problem is that isn't a shite wage at all, lots seem to be jumping ship in forestry for a few quid extra a day!! and the ones who are employed don't know how good they have got it. They hear or see the high rates offered to self employed but dont factor in the running costs!!
  9. Fuel solenoid is a common problem on these
  10. hi, i would be interested as i am based out that way. you can send me a message on here if you like
  11. more than good enough thanks
  12. Well i was told from field house to try jim riddle or sean raymont as they are the only two Qualified to teach it!!
  13. they may run them, but if they are qualified or not is another question, i wouldnt want to be trained by an unqualified trainer thats all im saying
  14. Id check to see if scott is qualified to teach this unit as wasnt when i asked!!!
  15. Jim Riddle his contacts on woodlots under training i believe. would say you will learn a lot from him
  16. ive used a palms few years back and found it okay to use 6.7m crane i think was little underpowered compared to botex lifting big sticks and legs seemed slow to come down and up! id say a mechanical drive trailer is better but cost is high and only worry is ones with drive cages mean tires will need replacing sooner as drive lugs could slip once the tires are worn??
  17. There is a matbro harvester( eagerbever) down road from me and has been sat for a few months if your interested in one?
  18. The kesla mounting is too weak and the tractor looks too good to be true at that price
  19. thought it was 3/8 from picture, my mistake
  20. 18" should be 68 dl
  21. Drive sprocket and bar if they are worn then they will contribute to slack chain also worn oiler and bar holes not clear of debris and finally depth gauges too low, all these will contribute to a stretched chain if its brand new id take it back To get checked 72 dl is a 20"
  22. Id use both as you said but fabricate a hydraulic ram/leg so your able to load trailer with matbro then re attach when full as i guess it doesnt have a drop hitch. Its big crane but cab is inch thick on top and 3/4 all round so very solid and yes twitch on slopes!!
  23. If its going on matbro that would be ideal as can self load trailer but can it run the crane as well if it was mounted to the trailer? Yes its a chieftain forge cab and used to have a winch on back and still has the high pulley mounted on cab, not sure where the winch is now as it was without when purchased it
  24. new cab will be expensive for restoration but sure you could source linkage and hydraulics easily, does crane bolt pattern match trailer kingpost? you could use crank pump of the pto or get a new pto pump to run the crane? will you be having legs on trailer as they dont have a pick up hitch. id be interested in the trailer if you change your mind
  25. went from a mercedes to county
