  1. I used too work on 100 per man per day.but with modern machinery this can be easilly beaten

    Ideas

    go into partnership with dad and develop existing contracts and grow the business slowly from within,add extra services like logs as you go along and finance from profit made from existing jobs.if your dad is old and is looking to retire shortly then gradually buy him out ,if your dad is young and wants to carry on working used his experience to guide you but gradually increase your stake in the business cos one day it will all be yours.then you will be rich as machinery is paid for and work is plentiful not buy old scrap machines and think they will do ,buy the best you can afford new or used.good luck. i started my business with £2k and now i have overdraft.but £200 k worth of machinery all paid for

  12. humm used and abused for 4 years so i suppose it might have been over reved,running a 3/8 chain on an 8 tooth rim probably didnt help it either.what would a new crankcase cost?wouldnt want a chinese copy ,but a good secondhand one might be the answer.if the repair is costing more than 300 better off scrapping it and buying a 550.or send it to spud and rebuild port and have a new racing machine...still need casing though

  15. ran my 254 and 365 on 3/8 usually use a 13 inch bar,with 8 tooth rims quick and lasts well.suspect death of 357 was running over it with tractor:thumbup:

  18. quite fancied a 550 so that might be the way to go...does anyone know if you can convert a 550 from i guess 325 to run on 3/8 as i have converted all my saws to run on same chain.73lpx.saves time sharpening and means i only buy one roll of chain at a time:thumbup:
