  1. I split about 6 bulk bags of the stuff by hand. It was cut into rings about 14 inches long. It was only when I started splitting it I realised is had a really big twist in it. I don't think a single piece split cleanly. It was green at the time and only took 1 year to season. The maul did bounce off a few of the pieces and they got put through the saw bench. The bark was really good for kindling.
  2. If you made it clear that the price is the same regardless they would probably rather have you deliver.
  3. ESS crossbow are better than the ice and don't fog up(I've got both). You can breath right onto them and they clear immediately. I shoot with them and purchased an extra set of frames with very thin arms so they don't put pressure on under muffs and they don't break the earmuffs seal.
  4. I put 5 bulk bags of split sycamore on a trailer in an underpass. I didn't use a moisture meter but within a few months it was very dry and about half the weight it started at. The underpass is a bit like a wind tunnel and I ended up leaving it for about 12 months anyway. I put it all in a poly tunnel now as it's less likely to get nicked.
  5. How much for a train full?
  6. Hi Devon Twig, What do you use to add the colour and what finishes do you use on it? Harry
  7. I've suffered for the last 31 years and it's only been the last 3-4 that I have the right combination. Piriton tablets with Pirinase nasal spray and any eye drops. Constantly feeling bunged up is the worst feeling and results in a headache and sore nose. Pirinase is much better than beconase and you can get it over the counter. I can enjoy the summers at last.
  8. At my kids school one of the dad's came along and carved them a really good totem pole. Any good at carving?
  9. It's not against the law to carry a knife with a blade over 3 inches or a locking/fixed blade if you have lawful authority or REASONABLE EXCUSE. If you at work as a tree surgeon and its on you or in your kit you have reasonable excuse. You need these things to do your job. You would never get convicted of that and the police have taken no further action so your employer would likely get their ass kicked at an unfair dismissal tribunal. As for despatching the deer well done. Nobody wants to see an animal suffer unnecessarily and watching it die a slow and painful death when you could cut its throat and let it bleed out was the right thing to do. Healthy animals are killed legally in the UK every day by the same process in slaughter houses so how can despatching a crushed animal be cause to get the sack. If they do sack you take it all the way and enjoy spending the compensation! And hello. First post! B
