  1. I agree with you partly on this Big J. The threat of punishment is not enough incentive to change people from being inherently selfish to putting others first above themselves. It has to be something much deeper and more profound than that. If all you consider the Christian gospel to be is just a set of regulations and rules then you haven't got a real grasp about it at all, sadly. You can't legislate morality, in real terms. It has to come from within. Have a great day! [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  3. Easy to apply that rationale to atheism. The worst atrocities (possibly ever) in modern history were perpetrated by atheists. Hitler's social Darwinism and Stalin's atheist systematic extermination of tens of millions far outweigh any of the atrocities committed in the name of religion. Man is a nasty piece of work. What can science tell us about "evil"? Science doesn't have all the answers. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  6. And holding to a belief that something came from nothing is any different? Why is it that atheists insist on using a yardstick on others that they won't use on themselves ....? I'll tell you why... it's called philosophical prejudice, and the reason for that is because none of you know for sure how it "All" came about. (Go on, admit it) So to categorically discount other possibilities just because you don't personally like them is really bad science when it boils down to it. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  7. I say this with respect, Big J, but there are many, many scientists out there who are far more intelligent and educated than you are, that hold an intelligent design belief position. Enjoy your Corrie... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  9. What is fictional about what I just wrote? And while we're on the subject of fundamentalist/discrimination.... many scientists who hold an intelligent design position have been unfairly sacked from their jobs by their bosses who are fundamental atheists with an aggressive agenda. Bottom line Big J You can't prove what you believe in is true any more than I can. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  13. A couple of hard facts for you. When a Christian kills someone (even in the name of God) he is DISOBEYING God. When a Muslim kills someone in the name of Allah he is OBEYING Allah. There is a big difference. Definition of a martyr: Muslim: someone who kills other innocent people along with himself in the name of his belief. Christian: someone who gets killed by others because of his beliefs. Again, there is a big difference. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  15. Is anyone really a fan of Trump? My understanding is that (proportionally) the American people were only interested in preventing Clinton getting elected. Trump was the only other "game in town" he got elected purely because he wasn't Clinton, in the same way Obama got elected because he wasn't white. Which is also why he won the Nobel Peace Prize. 16. Another article here exposing the hypocrisy of the protest movement. Again , it's a bit lengthy but worth a read nonetheless. Trojan Horses in Women's Movement by Khadija Khan February 11, 2017 at 5:00 am Send Share47 It must be so convenient, while marching in the safe confines of Washington DC, to advocate that other women -- far away -- be genitally mutilated, married off in childhood, and beaten and violated in their own homes. These women in hijabs marching on Washington do not have to live in this "Utopia." They are comfortably living in the "infidel West," protected from such barbarity. The Western culture that allows women to shout into microphones is not even necessarily the culture these women believe in; it is often just a tool they use to promote totalitarian ideas such as anti-Semitism, religious intolerance and imposition of theocratic beliefs. Does Linda Sarsour really think that people have gone so mad that they will give up the civil liberties that their ancestors earned through the centuries, merely for interest-free loans? The hypocrisy is that Sarsour's bold lifestyle in the US portrays that deep down she herself loathes the suppressing conditions that she promotes for the poor women of the Muslim world, who actually have to live with them. Coming from a conservative Muslim society, I know the culture she yearns for would never allow her to launch such activism without permission from her "guardian" men. The dissenting voices of the oppressed are fighting on two fronts. They are being crushed by their own totalitarian regimes and at the same time by Western apologists for these tyrants. Why do women who believe in equal rights for women, pick as their spokesperson someone who one minute boasts of her supposed dissent as "patriotism," while the next minute advocating chopping off other womens' genitals? It is like choosing a hangman to campaign against the death penalty, or the head of ISIS to campaign for same sex marriages. The principles of "dissent," of which they claim to be so proud, and to have borrowed from religious sources, are actually the modern world's liberal values and human rights -- just those rights values they seem to be trying to destroy. From the other side of their mouths, however, they are trying to impose Islamic sharia law on the West. Unfortunately, sharia is openly antagonistic to Western values and human rights. How can cults that believe in dominating others call themselves progressive, when their entire message runs counter to the spirit of tolerance and social coexistence? The champions of sharia have always said they wish to establish a "righteous" form of government, made by divine law, and presumably to that end, they implant their set of rules -- such as allowing no debate or criticism on their beliefs, or such as segregating sexes -- to destroy modern democracies. It must be so convenient, while marching on Washington DC, to advocate that other women -- far away -- be genitally mutilated, married off in childhood, and domestically beaten and violated -- and all the while, in the safe confines of Washington, to stay silent on issues of truly massive abuse: floggings; acid burnings; chopping off limbs or heads, or burning, drowning or burying people alive. These women in hijabs marching on Washington DC do not have to live in this "Utopia." They are comfortably living in the "infidel West', protected from such barbarity. The values they are enjoying here are the values of the enlightened world and have nothing to do with the culture they are trying to impose on others. The culture that is allowing women such as Linda Sarsour to shout into microphones is not even necessarily the culture these women believe in; it is often just the culture they are using to promote totalitarian ideas such as anti-Semitism, religious intolerance and the imposition of theocratic beliefs through infiltration or force. The culture to which Sarsour says she aspires, allows mutilating women but does not allow women to speak in a loud tone, let alone speaking through microphones. Hence, she owes her current privileges to her American identity. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  19. I don't need to be to recognise political bias when I see it. The key phrase here is.... "Judges appointed by Obama". Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  20. But that IS the bit that I do understand, Eggs. The POTUS does have the right to restrict immigration if it's a National security issue. It seems to me that Obama's appointees are just making political decisions. The legal case for upholding the suspension seems very weak to me. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk

  22. I was 48 years young but quite fit. Did my basic climbing/rescue and chainsaw in the tree then did my rigging, pruning and Loler tickets. Recon I've got at least another 5 years in the tank. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  23. Begs the question... who is really in charge? If I was an American citizen who had voted for Trump based on his get tough on immigration stance, I'd be well miffed now. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  24. I'm 3 years into climbing now and can take on most things, started late in life so I'll never be a "top climber" but hopefully am good at what I do. Something that has really helped me is having the opportunity to work with a top climber. One of the first things I noticed was his steady and smooth approach. Nothing was rushed and he didn't send huge limbs crashing down. Picked up some great tips and learned how to work the crown efficiently. Speed comes with practice. Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
  25. But it's not just Isis is it? What about the stuff that is happening in our own neighbourhoods? Sharia courts. Forced marriages, FGM, Heroin distribution , Trojan horse radicalisation in schools and prisons. Grooming gangs. Etc... etc... Sent from my iPhone using Arbtalk
