  1. Don't be put off by the Chinese GTS 1300 chippers etc , 4 years down the line and my gts1300 and it Ding Dang Dong engine going well . I have battered it and only just replaced the 3 drive belts and a new set of blades. Ste
  2. I have regularly changed oil but Seals went and soil entered, my fault I should of got seals done straight away , machine is 18 years old but very clean for its age .I have owned it for 10 years . Ste

  4. We have a few Big Hydraulic outlets here but they won't touch Track motors , I have Phoned half dozen Specialists up and the cheapest is £1400 up to 2k . My Kobelco is only a 2 ton machine . Ste
  5. Evening Folks , has anyone attempted to repair or Rebuild a Track or Final drive motor on a mini digger . My Kobelco has decided to spew the Drive making Hell of a racket, sounds like the half shaft stripping. Drive motor is off and on bench at the moment, have removed the pump and there is needle bearings floating about too ! Looking fairly terminal at moment and have priced a New unit up @ £1400 .? Ste
  6. A lot of the Tractor log splitters on the Market have the Relief valve turned down, just tweak it a Wee touch and Bingo ! Split anything. Ste
  7. Has Stephen said above , this Tree was in Decline and parted company from the main Trunk . I have milled other Healthier parts of the Tree and hardly any Spalt showing . Ste
  8. A few more Beech slabs milled today, that's my last Trunk that's been hanging about for 18 montvs 6ft long and 21 inches wide , lovely markings . Ste
  9. Time on my hands at the moment and needed a more powerful splitter , having seen others and tried I was disapointed with there power and prices. So I gathered all my scrap metal and hey ho . £60 for Ram £35 for valve and 100 notes for the pipes and fitting I had . I fitted it to my Saw bench and some will say ....should be on the other side , not for me has I mainly splitting rings and no Cord lengths. Secondly nothing strong enough on the right side. Works a treat and I reckon 15t all day .

  11. I have met quite a few Home oweners or Log Goblins last year with missing fingers etc through splitting loģs . Amazingly most are not put off by there injuries and still hunting for wood to save pennies . Ste
  12. There is a lot of misconception about selling firewood , if you are thinking about starting up and with a Business Partner then you will both be Busking at the weekend to make ends meet . Ste
  13. Don't get much ourselves here , that tree was a council job and I asked my Garden customer to ask there Tree lads to leave the Trunk behind which they Gladly done . Ste
  14. Well my piece of Dead elm sold on Flea bay for £59 , a bit better than a bulk bag of logs and gone to a good cause while it's sister is already sat above a Stove drying out . Ste
  15. Hi, common problem and the clamp is useless on mine and just broke it this morning again . I had to rope the battery end to me tow bar and pull it out ..clean it up and a tiny touch of WD . My has has warranty work over the stupid clamp but that was 3 years ago and clamp is not worth a toss , great machine let down by a bad design . Ste
  16. I have a piece of Elm similar size on flea bay at moment , starting bid at £30 . If I don't get that at least it's not worth the hassle . I Am very disappointed with milling responses and think it's a very limited market . Ste
  17. Far those thinking of grabbing a old school 461 before they introduce the new ms462 then hurry up , last month there was only 68 ms461 held in UK Stihl . Ste Ste
  18. 4 fills !!! Mine is Great but not till after 10 plus tanks at least . Great saw and very responsive. Ste
  19. I have been using a 22hp Yanmar and a 6ft flemmig finishing mower on Turf tyres for over 7 years now on large area ie footy pitch, Housing estate greens and paddocks . Simple setup and cheap to run and easily paid for itself in no time at all and great results cutting fortnightly religiously. Prices are vary and would not dream of investing large amounts for grass . Example these 2 pictures I cut on a Residents housing estate and take hour and half and little plot to one side. £35 hour Ste
  20. Most of the wee chippers out there have a 5 degree sharpen on the back of the blades which for most Lawnmower dealers cant accommodate. Ste
  21. I got two 4" planks from it , a good friend is taking one for a Mantle piece built into the wall . The other i shall sit on while . I hate seeing trunks cut up for firewood and would rather mill them just for the experience and seeing the lovely grain . Am doing more milling over the Christmas hols and will be planing some others that have dried out . Ste

  23. Fair play to that young Lad ..... makes a change that he was not on his phone or Kev would not be writing this thread . Quick thinking on your behalf Kev I am a big fan of age restrictions with these big tractors .. ...madness I have to mess around with medicals and Cpc etc for my Class 1. Ste
