  1. The last one in the op is the red painted one from the first picture, Bulldog brand, not sure what style they call it, the differences are so subtle. My feeling is that a painted hook will be poor but it feels nice. Not had a chance to use it.
  2. I was impressed you could say it was a bulldog brand, was it the bolt through or the tightening collar? It is very much abused!
  3. How do you know? I think you are right but it is very rusty and the makers name may not survive cleaning.
  4. Another day, another handle.
  5. Big fan of Steve, national champ Devon style last year and reserve supreme champ. Really passionate and an excellent teacher
  6. Not cleaned the top left yet so not sure of the maker. Clockwise from top, Elwell Yorkshire with handle by Elwell, red is Bulldog, then biped, elwell slasher , WS? , Skelton.
  7. Bang on, had a rubber handle "tested to 20000 volts"! Made by Elwell
  8. Possible but not it's primary use.
  9. I felt it was something to do with sowing, I can see how it could bundle up the thatch.
  10. No cutting edge, appears to be a needle end
  11. Thats one I think I know a little about, not strictly a firemans axe but fire may be involved!
  12. Not seen that catalogue page before, has one for both my local towns back at the farm. I'll have to keep buying auction lots!
  13. Thought I would start a thread to share what we've bought, new or second hand, business or pleasure. Recent auction lot, I 'd be surprised if anyone can name them all but I'd love to know. Yorky after cleaning, Leicestershire with a new handle.
  14. Needs casting up badly but I don't shovel very well, fence also had to stay .Needs a digger as a lot of rabbit damage but too steep for me
  15. a bit of hedge we laid for a pensioner who could no longer cope with the hill. Picture does not do it justice.

  19. I broke a 3.2 mm file and now use it 2" shorter, makes it much less bendy! They definately require more patience than bigger ones but theres not too many cutters. I have one this morning i will chuck away as it is worn down enough to have lost a tooth🤦‍♂️
  20. Baths with spring loaded plugs in the middle so when you move you let the water out.WTF
