  1. Had the 460 out tonight (another of Steves baies) , it seems to be getting better with use !! , straight up i will use it every time over my ms 661 which hasnt burnt the paint of its bar in a year . Thats a productivity decision but it helps that it feels so sweet with power in all the right places . I have sorted out which con-saw i am going to get you to do , its the Stihl one , i must post it to you in the next week or so .
  2. Hi everyone , is it possible that a new set of rear Monroe shocks could be gone in around 7-8 months ?. Over the last couple of weeks my old td5 disco has been feeling a bit spongy , when you brake hard with the trailer behind it dips discernibly more than it used to . I got a pair of Monroe (described as high quality and almost the most expensive available , at the motor factors) fitted around last July . It went through the DOE with no mention of any suspension problems last Tuesday but theres definitely something wrong there , could the coil springs be gone ? , it does average miles but almost full time trailer work .
  3. Now that looks a tidy setup , imagine you can shift a deceptive amount of stuff with it ? . Ever use it at Hardwood first thinnings ?
  4. It does indeed , i will give them a shout and let you know . Thanks Again
  5. Fair play on that Steve but it looks as if the KFG 35 which is on mine doesent have bushes or they arent listed . I wonder if a new drawtube would do it ? . P.S . thanks again , i wouldnt know anything unless you pointed it out ...
  6. A question of choice once you error slightly on the rich side i think . I hope im not jinxing anything but i have had a remarkably trouble free run at 45:1 over the last 2 seasons . Considering im using older (although superbly fettled by Spud) saws . When my 2nd sub 1 year old husqy seized a couple of years ago i eventually bypassed my worse than useless dealer and went to the importer . He was absolutely adamant that husqy xp oil was up to any application .
  7. I havent Steve , does it run on a Bush ? , thats the kind of info i really appreciate of other guys on here ...
  8. Hi I just noticed of late the hitch om my ifor 12 x 6 6 tipper is getting a bit rattly . Appears to be the main circular shaft as it goes through the cast part . They seem to be fairly pricey to replace , im wondering is there any way of machining and rebuilding or it there an aftermarket option ? Thanks
  9. Hi Rowan I see youre over in Ireland too , in Sligo ? , ive see some of your picture posts .
  10. Thats a tidy Tractor and Trailer by the way , what sort of productivity do you get out of it ? .
  11. As Marko and nearly everyone else said there isnt anything wrong at all with it and the "feel" is very good . Maybe you could put 5 seconds into it showing you replanting a sapling or two .
  12. Fair play for the feedback lads , just wondering is anyone using the one i mentioned 04-07 as a work vehicle ?
  13. I think its a good ad , i have what id imagine is a fairly similar sized operation over here in Ireland . Just one thing , the relatively bleak countryside and the fact that it appears as if its a hedgerow youre cutting from probably doesent convey the most environmentally sympathetic image . As i said its a good ad but perhaps the very same ad based around a thinning operation would definitely tick all boxes . Do you buy in any cord or do you harvest everything as a matter of interest ?. Best of luck .
  14. Used both over a long period but only Stihl in the last 3 yrs . Stihl holds its edge better and lasts longer .
  15. Has to be said most of the stuff you have are half decent models . I had all of the Stihls , theyre all getting on now but a fresh 028 or particularly 038 fit into the category of a solid asset combined with a good back up saw . 038s were the go to saw in Ireland 20-25 years ago , they dont seem to have the same cult following in the UK ? . Id love to get a fresh 038 Magnum and let Spud give her the once over .
  16. Hi all , just thinking of changing the trusty old Discovery , the thought occurs annually when the DOE test comes up i find !! . I have no intention of spending big money as ive just bought a processor and need other pieces of kit worse . Also a vehicle tends to be at the end of its working life when i finish with it !! . The disco has / is an amazing servant considering i would never have bought it if id believed the reviews , in fact i probably would buy a late (04) td5 if i could find one with less than 110k miles or so . Ive noticed Mitsubishi Pajeros dont make particularly big money , so anyone had one , experience of them ? , reliability , fuel consumtion , towing stability ???. I believe there are 2.5 , 2.8 and 3.2 models . Id be very thankful for any feedback ..Thanks
  17. I tried to write to you regarding Ireland and got nothing coherent back , whats going on ?
  18. Hi Steve , keeping up the good work i see ...just following up on the pms , that 357 you did for me has to be the best saw ive ever had . A guy actually walked up to me yesterday and asked me what was done to it he said it sounded like a trials bike !! .
  19. Rain and a storm again on the way . This weather situation is getting beyond funny at this stage . I remember 2 rain free days here since Mid November and at that the West of Ireland is faring even worse . Constant wettings and mud are really sapping the energy at this stage . Anyone feeling the same ?
  20. Still never got anything off you , and dont seem to be able to pm you .
  21. Dublin or Rosslare ..... is a 20ft or 40ft container your mininmum order . Ash preferably but other species considered .
  22. Can you send me your prices to Ireland pls by pm .
  23. Thats actually my brothers one , was purchased very very reasonably with the clutch gone and a few scrapes 85 K miles . 1000 Euro turned her into a nice jeep , Still only around 120 K miles on her and must be worth 7000 Euro easily. Id rate them , bomb proof reliability , great driving jeep on the road , stable with trailers . But god is she thirsty , 23 mpg vs 33 mpg out of my Td5 , my old Disco would outperform her off road too .
  24. Youre lucky you have one you can trust . Was faithful to the one for years until he sold me an absolute pig and effectively washed his hands of it . Since then to be honest ive had no loyalty to any and having both Husqy and Sthihl ive dealt with a fair number . The service is uniformly horrendous to be honest , no back up saws given out for saws under warranty even when the fault takes weeks to sort . Immediate attempt to attribute every fault to user error despite the fact ive been sawing for 20 plus years . Costs that are comparable with an automotive main dealership . I could go on , suffice to say the first saw that spud has done for me has completed more than twice the working time and three times the output than it did from new to seizing itself inside the warranty period , absolutely trouble free and with awesome performance .
  25. Hi Jon Happy xmas , like that one ? , the 3 axle was low enough to get the container out of an extremely narrow spot where there were low soffits either side , hence its usage . The Landcruiser is a good wagon alright , thirsty though .
