not really for me to decide what is a game or a sport ( if there is any difference in many cases ) but some things just do not seem to make sense to me !! wokeness is not a big thing but it never existed before in sport but was in evidence this year , trans weight lifter , gay knitter , mental health issues, mixed sex relay events etc and statements by organisers .... in reality most competitors are ruthlessly competitive bastards who will do what ever it takes to win !!!😁😁

buying a woodland through the lotting companies is very quick and straightforward though, pay the asking price (no haggling usually ) and about 6 weeks and it's yours ..trying through estate agents is a pain in the ass ...you make a bid , same as guide price and wait ages to hear that you were outbid ... then try and find another woods for sale could take ages for the same to happen again , and prices are often higher and stand alone woods that are small are rare , especially with good access etc .

I think I have read some of your saga on a woodlands site ....from memory you have been in a long protracted battle with planners and residential neighbours for ages over just about everything and if I remember correctly you have a very tiny woodland , so in reality this makes it very difficult to justify your sheds , loo etc for the amount of "forestry " work you are undertaking .

I found the very little of the Olympics I saw to be a bit of a bore to be honest ( although pleased we done well ) but as others have said a lot of the events are a bit silly now I think ..BMX , skateboarding , surfing , dressage , golf etc etc ..I fact I really do not care for subjective / judged sports but prefer quantifiable events ...running , swimming ,weightlifting etc where the winner is proven not chosen !! most of these sports are not participated in by most of the world anyway !! wokeness is showing it's ugly head here as well ...

I use a motorbike quite a lot so no real problem , apart from having to clean it too often ...mud , horse shit , puddles etc 😅

Same "problem " in Devon .....I am considering selling up and moving some where cheap (ish ) and having even more spare cash to retire early ...big decision though and the bridge will be burnt .... hard to come back if it does not work out !!! On the plus side the incomers do require services that help trades etc ...

perhaps they should stop selling them to wealthy outsiders then !!! must be loads of cornish with a lot of money after selling their house and just blow all their money at Trago Mills !!😂

Paul ...you hit the nail on the head !! very few people can afford 100 acres !! I am also amazed that the likes of Clegg and co sell to such companies to then see them virtually double the price ..also very , very few woodlands ever come on to the market , especially small ones . I bought from Woodlands ,co,uk , the woods is only 5 miles from me and ideal for my wants /needs and it is very doubtful I could find anything else for years . If any one thinks it is that simple then perhaps buy a big wood and sell it off in bits and make a fortune 😁...

Property prices in France are still very high near the better places , nice parts of the Coast , the Alps or near big cities ....the English tend to buy in quiet out of the way areas where demand is low and prices follow ...same in Italy , Spain etc ...

this is why there seems to appear to the English at least , so many run down unloved properties in France with the potential to create a fantastic property that would be utterly unaffordable in the UK . DIY why appears to be a non thing in France from my own observations !!

low inflation keeps house prices relatively high , in relation to earnings , for example if 30 years ago you borrowed 3x income lets say for example £30 k ...then the debt will stay at £30 k ...but if 3x income after 10 years is now £60k ( due to inflation )then the homeowner seems to have a bargain ! ...In recent years inflation has been very low which keeps the cost of servicing a mortgage high so even after 5-10 years is almost as painful as in initial years .

As long as houses continue to sell then they are obviously affordable !! still grossly overpriced though !!

Bloody hell J you are a miserable git !! you hate Devon yet the house prices are so high because so many people wish to live here because it is so lovely ...says more about you than Devon , why do you wish to believe that the sea and rivers are so polluted ? I have spent a HUGE amount of time enjoying the sea with no problems . My perception of Sweden is a very boring place , and you have alluded in previous posts how you suffer from sadness ...what will it be like in a machine by yourself all day in a monotonous conifer plantation in the dark ? You are also "cherry picking" the EU , most countries are poorer than the UK and why has Sweden not adopted the Euro ?? they have had to restrict alcohol sales due to abuse which is state control not freedom !!

Also what do you think it says about European countries when their young people leave their own country do do a "menial " job over here, some of whom are well qualified . Also a great number ( perhaps too many ) of our own people have degrees etc and have gone in to professions instead of labouring jobs , it was the success of our economy that created the need for such jobs , I have heard from Polish people I know that a lot of jobs back home in Poland were filled by Ukrainians , all this to me shows that the "free movement of labour " is /was a very flawed concept , one of the reasons so many become disillusioned with the EU !!! both here and in Europe ...

Is everyone in Europe better off doing the basic jobs ?? some may pay higher but taxes are higher and I have been to plenty of places in Europe that has shitty housing and more than it's fair share of dodgy layabouts !! the ones that have come here from Poland for example are the younger more dynamic individuals on the whole and are not typically representative of their countrymen , plenty of Brits are hard working and have gone to Europe and beyond because of their skills and determination , I am sure all the Norwegians do not think all the jocks are like Trigger 🤣

I think you may be overlooking the Benefits system for EMPLOYED people in this country ..Working family tax credits , Child allowance etc etc all helps make a minimum wage comfortably livable !

If they have been ringed then surely this would of been recorded somewhere by an official organisation and where did the birds go ??, and you are right about the borderline obsessive bird spotters !! In reality it would be best if they nest elsewhere as they cause considerable issues as you have discovered !! same with such things as bats and dormice !! Where in the country are you ?

Slad ,,, those are very clear images and shows equipment , I am sure your local wildlife crimes officer would be interested in them , if not then there is little hope . How did anyone know the birds were there ?? The local raptor group could be useful as they will be watching it a lot , even from a distance . Where in the country are you ??

it is also quite likely they will nest in the same place each year unless significant change to woodland . Were they nesting in mature Douglas firs ? if so not just anyone can /will climb such a tree so it could be likely that they were experienced at this , another site near me had chicks stolen as I believe they are a desired species by hawkers etc ...

I doubt very few in the Arb industry make £20 an hour ( employed , or SE after expenses etc ), and you seem to imply shelf stackers do !!, the training to drive a lorry is cheaper and quicker to do than arb certs . I gather you work in the oil industry but do you have any comprehension of the real world ?? £20 an hour is £40k per annum for a 40 hour week and the national average is about £25 k !!
