  1. I have a Jensen a540 and think it is a cracker of a chipper, it is a 7.5 inch machine and we turn the feed roller speed down and chip that sort of size wood a lot. Keep it all sharp and it does not bother it. It produces excellent chip and throws it a good distance as well. I have had mine 5 years and to be honest I expect it to do another 5. A low hour one would not be expensive and there is not much to go wrong. If I was going to go bigger, I would go for a 990 if you need it and can stretch that far, it does not weigh much more than the 90 and is 12inch. Jon
  2. That is not overloaded though Bill!
  3. I have 100+ ton of Arb arisings (hard wood and soft wood) that I am clearing out my yard it is off road so you would need a tractor loader and trailer but if you want it it is yours! Contact me on 07828597984
  4. And you can sharpen the teeth! We can do a set of 8 in 15mins and they are as good as new. Dependant on the condition you can get around 4-5 sharpens and you get three turns anyway. That makes the teeth very cheap.
  5. I beg to differ. There is more to offer than money initially. Training someone takes time and effort. If you want someone experienced don't get an apprentice, if you want to invest in someone's future then go for it. My apprentice is coming up to completing his course and is already the best grounds man I have had work for me. I have great hopes for his continued development within my company.
  6. .9 m3 apparently. So not quite but as near as makes no difference! I hate doing logs for this very reason, mine are from Arb arisings so free wood but a pain to process. With people selling wood this cheap locally it is hard to compete!
  7. There is someone local to me selling a cu of Oak and Birch barn stored at below 20% moisture for.... Wait for it.... £40! I literally can not comprehend it! I am in the south east as well!
  8. I have a good condition 110 which fits the bill. If you pm me your email address I can send you some further details and photos.
  9. I thought so but thought it worth clarifying. Yes throw line into it and the winch on the landy.
  10. I am sure that comment was lost in translation "you want prosecuting", just to clarify we were called in to sort out the problem caused by someone else.
  11. I have turned up to a 20" diameter sycamore resting up against another tree swaying in the breeze with a STEP CUT in it! It was in the corner of public cemetery and another "contractor" had done it, realised it was all wrong and scarpered asap. The mind boggles.
  12. I have a 54 plate hi cap tipper for sale, it has about 140,000 miles on it but it has been serviced regularly and had a lot of the common issues fixed. Injector seals, transfer box, alternator, starter motor, etc it has a KMR chip box with fold out lights and a cover. Oh and a hydraulic winch with auxiliary take off. It is a good and useful vehicle. My old yard was off road and so I needed a LR I now have a yard with concrete hard standing so am getting a Mitsi 3.5 ton tipper. You either need a LR and have one or you don't. That is my reason for selling. PM me for more details, if interested
  13. As above I have roughly 300-400 cu of unspilt arb arisings that I need to get rid of. The access is off road so a tractor would be needed. I also have 65 cu of split, seasoned wood left for sale, this can be delivered or picked up but I want to shift it in bulk. I am open to offers contact [email protected] for further info. Jon.
  14. I would say it is. It has a pretty big fly wheel and that does most of the work, with a sharp pair of blades and anvil it chips very strongly and produces good chip to boot.
  15. What's the something else... a screen?? ;-)
  16. Depends on the size of the lumps being zipped down. A groundy, a pile of logs, the chipper, a tree. As long as they are suitable for purpose. You would be amazed how good a pile of logs is as an anchor though.
  17. I am looking for a part time groundsman/second climber Cs30/31/38 are required 39 is preferred B+e is really useful. Excellent rates of pay and for the right person there might be a full time job on the books. Call 07828597984 or email [email protected]
  18. Yes it has, sometimes it jams on a goodun. I am guessing after a bit of use it will loosen up.
  19. I have just recently, I have just changed carabiner as my old one was wearing a fair bit. I think the new one has a slightly different profile. What carabiner are you using?
  20. I have found that cheap old Marlow 8mm Double Braid Works really well, basically the softer the friction cord the better. I tie my knot at the start of a climb and it is easy to judge where to tie it. The thing even self tends when I am climbing the tree itself.
  21. Cheers for that guys his number would be real useful. Jon
