  1. Every day is a school day as they say 🙂
  2. This might turn into a weird YouTube afternoon of distraction 🙂
  3. I've never actually looked to see what happens with silicone when it's burnt, I guess if it's a hybrid it's entirely possibly it melts. What's the stove model ?.
  4. Agree it's a very good looking install. Quick Google and that's rated to 150c+, no draught regulator visible so I guess it could get pretty hot and melt. They gave you an installation cert I presume?.
  5. There won't be a joint as it goes through the wall. Doubtful it's silicone as they would use high temp stuff that sets solid, maybe cavity wall insulation melting. I'd suggest you call back the installer as I wouldn't touch it before calling them back under warranty. But having a 45 go through a wall does seem like asking for trouble in our rather wet climate.
  6. Aren't a lot of the wind turbines also owned by vattenfall ?. Which is effectively the Swedish government, which you can't buy shares in. So guess they Vattenfall were the precursor to state nationalised EDF.
  7. Sheep would always be my preferred option, had a neighbor winter cattle one year and they mostly stayed in the woodland out of the wind etc Fifteen years later and I took over the ground, the drainage is still terrible as the compaction just created a clay mud bath. You might be okay with a small breed like a Dexter, but sheep will munch the self seeded saplings. Best moved out by April tho as it'll be horse fly and bug central. Get some herwicks, personality, attitude and relatively low maintenance.
  8. You spent like half a page describing a boat analogy on my driveway. Whilst you didn't do the derailing, my initial thoughts were originally pretty common sense. Which has since snowballed into a why aren't you xyz etc.
  9. I'm not the horse, but you're definitely trying to force it to drink. Your option is all people should be registered with companies House, in your eyes they're just fly by night types. Even tho sole trading types make up a large percentage of small businesses. I'm not registered as what I do is relatively low risk. Even my last employer ran it that way for 30+ years without problems.
  10. Is this really the horse you wish to flog?.
  11. If you want to be pedantic, it's me trading as insert company name. Don't you think I know the difference between them and have chosen what is best ?, I've even said it's a future goal. So why jump feet first until you get on your feet instead of going ltd and falling on your face as per the initial topic!.
  12. I am a sole trader of a couple of small companies. Limited or VAT status is of course a future possibilities, but start small and all of that. What I was trying to convey was you can't judge an industry by that data, whilst the ones most in debt will fail that's not any different to the past or the future. Shiny chippers and vans bought of massive credit, working 5 days to cover the payments it's inevitable compared to those who started with nothing and earned their way up.
  13. Glad I'm not the only voice of some common sense. Even sole traders are companies of sorts, obviously the distinction should have been a die off of ltd and other registered companies.
  14. You only have to be on companies House if your a ltd company.
  15. To be on companies House though your not the vast majority of companies. When it's 1/2 guy companies they wouldn't be on the list. Aspirational maybe, but I wouldn't judge any industry by it. As you can go up the tiers of success and down without going busy.
  16. Wouldn't that list only be of the VAT listed variety?. Whilst you can gauge any industry by such a metric, if you are starting up wouldn't that be last thing you would do unless you're doing 85k worth of buisness.
  17. It's going to be an absolute HSE nightmare, if they are asking you get them to look at the requirements.
  18. The cream does not float to the top in that line of work, bit like the labour party and trade unions.
  19. Top end electrical qualifications, are you sure about that?
  20. Maybe those that are both are the ones in charge. Like a hierarchy of stupid 🙂
  21. As it was in Germany, do the protesters have to have insurance or do they expect the place they're occupying to cover them. Especially with those idiots that claimed the Dartford crossing, it's not as though you can reasonably cover that in your policy.
  22. Did anyone read that VW article, the protesters seem to expect for lack of a better words toilet facilities. Next they'll expect you to also supply refreshments and the glue remover.
  23. It always boggles my mind the whole DMZ aspect of the island, it's a private NATO/UN playground.
  24. I really wanted to be sarcastic and say 18-30 holidays in Cyprus don't count. But respect those that have served.
  25. Was the dribbling due to the moist Victoria sponge or the taser sarg?. It'll never be as funny as "It's only Bolognese Andy"
