1. I have put a few pics on the thread I started a while ago. If you are interested.
2. I have modded my splitter so it can be used one handed, and also removed one arm off the machine. With the two arms on I don't think a 2ft plus ring would fit on the table.
3. I've not worked out yet how you perch a 2ft+ round on the tiny table on a vertical? Anyone advise? I think if you are splitting 2ft plus then most splitter's would struggle, but you can just hold the other edge. I have done a few on mine and its OK, but easier with smaller logs.
4. I bought the handy 7 vertical from internet gardener.co.UK and it is much faster than the horizontal type I used to use. I started a thread on splinters a while back.
5.
thanks ash, good to know.

6. You could post on here when you have a job on and I'm sure someone would take the timber, and a sign where you are cutting saying "free logs", there is a lot of people that love free stuff.
7. Not been in a while but think they are still going.
8. Foxhill Timber Recycling will be able to take it all, dont know costs?
9. If the tree has snapped due to fungus the wood will have little heat when burnt.
10. Hi all, considering a pair of radio ear defenders and wondered if anyone has used the husky or peltor ones. I have read the other posts and went to aldi but they are all gone. Any advise welcome. Thanks.
11. Ray jones tought me to turn and he used to do all the shows, Im not sure if he still is but worth having a look at his facebook page and his "likes". Could give some pointers. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ray-Jones-World-of-Woodturning/144330268994388
12. Record make great lathes, if you can go for a cast head with solid bars as it will be more stable. Clubs are good and the nec do a big show every year.
13. i have had a few chimney fires with our old fire, down to lack of sweeping or christmas trees. when you do the flames will be out the pot and the noise is a very loud howl. if its all quiet with no sparks flames i wouldnt worry. after a fire there is a lot of white smoke out the pot. could be worth sweeping it though.
14. Using a chainsaw inside would upset the neibours more i would have thought, unless you are detached. Even the electic saws are very loud. Maybee a different type of electric saw if noise is an issue.
15. how much ash is there? Any better location than speke area. thanks
16. Not sure what this is . I have tried to look it up but can't find it. It is on a piece of oak. Is it safe for my children to play on. The fungi has covered one log and is starting on the other. They are growing between the bark "valleys".
17. I got the 4 way wedge from machine mart and it fit's a perfectly, one word of advise if you buy the wedge from mm parts dept you also need to order the m10 handle that hold it in place. I have just used a m10 eye bolt that works fine, but for £17 delivered its still cheap if a little rough. I gave it a quick sanding with a flap disk and it works great. I have put a few 16" x 16" chestnut peice through it with no problems. The pics are before and after a quick touch up.
18. Hi , I started a thread on elec splitters that may be of some interest. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/61971-kind-rock-7-ton-electric-log-splitter.html
19. I have often been called a tool for general use. I too use 16" but I want the 4 way for the easy stuff and kindling.
20. hi Log, just a short clip, taken on my mobile while opperating the splitter! Not the best vid in the world but you can see what to do. Good job i did the mod.
