1. I was told it depends on the saw. the larger pro saw run better on xp, i was recomended to use LS on my 345.
2. Hi russ, I am not steering clear of clarke due to bad back up but due to the fact i think the vertical machine is the same engineering as the horizontal (which i have) and you cant change the pump if need be. i think the clarke machine is the smaller one and i want the bigger one. I like the fact on the larger machine you could in theory mod it to be a better machine in the future and fix issues easier.
3. ok, after being told of the machine is the same as other brands i have been looking around. I have noticed that the machine mart, woodstar etc are a smaller machine and the pump is inside a casting like the horizontal machines, the size up has a seperate pump attached with hoses and a higher tonage. I have found riko, handy and Mitox to sell the larger modle. Anyone know of the same machine under a different name? Thanks for all your input so far. The machine i am talking about is below.
4. has anyone used Professional affordable log splitters, wood chippers, stump grinders fire wood processing suppliers any good? Im waiting for a price.

Starting up

Sign your car/van get a uniform word of mouth is best, ask for work wherever you go. start with keen prices and get known.
6. Against. please sign if you dont want the cull. Stop the cull - rspca.org.uk if they had proof it was the badgers then fine . but they dont, they are not even testing the culled animal to see if they are infected. TB can also lay dormant in cattle so may test clean , and when retested be infected. There is not enough knowlage to start upsetting the "natural ballance"
7. hi, have you had any oil leaks? is it hoses between the pump and the ram or is it all hidden/in a casting?
8.
hi , is it possable to see threads you have posted in quickly?

9. hi , as doobin righty says they are the same machine, they both claim different ton but the motor is the same. When i tried to get parts for my clarke they took forever , then said they cant get them. I actually got them from "Handy". same machine different colour.
10. I have a "clarke" splitter 4 ton which has served me well over 5 years with a few mods, but i keep busting the shaft oil seal and it leaks a bit. I want to upgrade not not sure what to get?
11. hi. i know its not a pro splitter but from reading the forum over the last few weeks i have noticed there are a lot a different people and skills on here. there are a few threads on splitters but not much input on electric. I spilit arb waste that i can scavenge for free and try not to buy wood. I am a retired joiner on medical grounds, not an arborist but have cut wood with a few saws over the years. I have a good knowlage and love of timber and find this site very interesting. If anyone has the time to spare and the knowlage of the above machine or similar I would be very grateful. My budget is about £500. As i said , be kind to a newun.
12. A link for the lazy; http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Tree+Morphogenesis+Book+1+Reduction+via+thinning+
13.
tried again and its fine. thanks

14. as an ex joiner and recently had a few done by a local firm. i would think more the region of 2k. try and find a local man. word of mouth is best.
15.
hi steve, i cant add anything on "about me", just says N/A? i also wondered if it is possabe to contact me via my email at aol now. if not i can use another email. Great site , love it and its addictive.

16. It could be a shaft oil seal. Cheap to replace.
17. Can't go wrong for the price.
18. if you get one with a small tank you will have a bit of quiet time when using it unlike the others that make constant noise. a 25l tank on an oil free comp will do all you wish and more, and never need to check anything. Just plug it in when needed. You wont wait long for a 25l tank to fill, i often use whats left in the tank with the air gun to clean things when it is unplugged.
19. thanks david, makes sense. i will have a look at that thread later.
