  1. you have a fare weight on back axle, you roughly have 800kilos on the back end you running 34"s or 38"s,
  2. the back end wont lift on your tractor jon, wht model do you have
  3. it aint mine,, i dont have a splitter,, want 1 tho, no good in a coucil house with gas central heating,, ha ha, ive a keen interest in them,, did work a splitter once for a company, was splitting 3 weeks and still wasnt finished,,
  4. would b hard to put wheels on it, if mine, wheels would be at ram end, draw bar at splitter end, it could b slide back into the the frame out of the way, big engine at the back, its not mine seen it on ebay a few years ago,
  5. its not the pressure thats on the rams, its how good the hydraulics is behind the rams, then theres the welding, aslong as it holds up,
  6. what ever loader you fit, make sure it has brackets on the back axle, fill back wheels with water, or add wheel weight, you wont need any more weights, and you wont lift a wheel and need 2 check your under wear,, ha ha
  7. the mf 399 is a good tractor, stay clear of the shuttle or single gear stick boxes, the 3 stick box wont give you any bother,, some can do 40kph, easy to do repairs on,

  10. hi jon, no its got wet brakes, its done not bad on original brakes, the tractor is 38 years old,, ive drove a few mf"s with multi power boxes, when they work there are good, alot off people hate the gear box, you can get a conversion kit to turn the box into a 8 speed, it does away with the multi power, costs about £350.00

  12. thanks jon, the 165 dont get used so much now, theres no brakes on it, + got a multi power gearbox, its stuck in low, needs a new oil pump,

  14. higgs89 the cab you have is like super deluxe, it has a kinda flat floor, the window is 1 piece, 2 steps on your cab, your cab sits high, if you could get sum1 2 make you a window frame, there only 12mm box section, and 2/3 mm flat sheet steel, the other 1 has 1 step, the gearbox tunnel sits a foot high, the window is 2 piece,i i would put up pics but dont know how to on here,
  15. higgs89 hi, try ron greet tractors, he is a mf tractor breaker, there is breakers in ireland that mite have a back window, your cab is a duncan super cab, i have a mf 165 + 290 both have duncan cabs

  22. i used to do grass topping with the abbey behind a mf 290 2wd, it worked find,, used 2 top on a hill sheep farm, used to get alone of a 4wd tractor for the higher ground, some of the ground hadnt been cut in years, some of the rashes was 3ft high, the grass topper cut it ok, just had to take your time tho, always on the lookout for rocks,,
  23. try a grass topper like a abbey, on 3 point linkage or trailed, they have 2 arms with 2 blades on each, some have 3 arms, the blades is free swinging, they do chop the grass abit and spread it out the back,
