    boots...

My Meindl airstreams have been pretty excellent but have been getting damp tootsies lately. I noticed the front sole seem a bit low on tread but no signs of holes.... anyone else had a similar damp tootsie problem? Would having new soles fitted help? cheers, steve
  2. It's that typical new chain just been fitted syndrome!.... they seem attracted to stone and metal. Did you notice much difference in cutting speed? cheers, steve
  3. Regardless of whatever chainsaw you get, big or small.... don't under estimate how much difference a sharp chain can make, along with setting the height of the depth gauges (rakers). RobD (chainsawbars.co.uk) has some great instructional videos. cheers, steve
  4. I understood very little of that but really enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing it cheers, steve
  5. They look great (especially the one with the hat). cheers, steve
  6. Gosh, I wasn't expecting that! cheers, steve
  7. Looks pretty darn good to me and a well deserved 8 points... but I need to deduct 1 point for having such a clean glove and a further 6 points for the fact it says St**l on it. That leaves you with 1 point. cheers, steve
  8. Does excessive use of Easi-Start cause that too? cheers, steve
  9. Thanks Eggs, that flexy pipe looks handy stuff. cheers, steve
  10. I reckon it might not affect the pressure if the exhaust extension is from bigger pipe than the exhaust outlet. What's your thoughts Spud?.... if you're reading this?? cheers, steve What size engine is that Eggs? And what diameter pipe did you use for extending it?... cheers, steve
  11. I have considered doing something like that. I imagine just bolting a tube from the exhaust outlet to the opposite end of the mill would make a difference. Not sure if anyone's tried that?.... RobD?.... cheers, steve
  12. That's what I was finding too. It's the difference between ending the day with a headache and burning sensation in the back of the throat. Fortunately most Arb jobs we do aren't in such confined spaces and there's a fair amount of wind *parp* in far West Wales. However I will be doing a fair amount of Alaskan *Chilaskan* milling sometime soonish so I may need to switch back to Aspen for that??? How much will an 880 running on Aspen cutting 32" diameter oak empty my piggy bank?? cheers, steve
  13. I like the one with the hat. cheers, steve
  14. No experience but looks like an awesome bit of kit. cheers, steve
  15. Why did you plant Laurel, if you don't mind my asking? cheers, Steve
  16. Heck, don't beat it 'til you've tried it mate! cheers, steve
  17. Are there diagnosed cases of people getting cancer directly due to inhaling exhaust fumes?.... vehicle mechanics perhaps??? cheers, steve
  18. Yes, but only in farming. cheers, steve
  19. I think I'm pretty good at knowing when I'm getting low on fuel.... trouble is; finding out the dealer has only one or two cans of Aspen left or forgot to order a replacement pallet kinda leaves me with thinking it's much easier to manage my stock control by filling up at a plethora of garages that happen to be en'route to whatever destination I'm heading in. cheers, steve I agree.... but this is far West Wales! cheers, steve Too expensive, yep. I also agree with 1 and 2 and I'm not sure about 3 or 4. However, I do think it's worth running on Aspen just to not get the occasional headache or sore throat from running pump fuel. My reason for not using Aspen anymore is partly because of the price but mostly because it's not available in my hometown. cheers, steve
  20. They did suggest I phoned.... see my answer below: cheers, steve
  21. I'd probably start using it again if I could buy it more local. I found the nearest Aspen dealer to me didn't always have it in stock, or had only a few cans left in stock, so I had a couple of wasted journeys. Been using pump fuel since, certainly saves alotta faffing about, and money. cheers, steve
  22. Great!.... any reports on chain wear and sharpening? cheers, steve
  23. I've noticed alot of builder companies employ agency staff for many of the same reasons.... so you could try contacting a few of them for an agency contact. cheers, steve
  24. Off load children to relatives as often as possible! cheers, steve
  25. Thanks for the clarification.... interesting concept and it'll be good to hear your thoughts after using it a while. Makes total sense now. It'd be interesting to compare various room temperatures with your floor vent in an open vs closed (or blocked off) position..... especially comparing temperatures from the opposite side of the room to where the fire is. Intriguing! cheers, steve
