  1. hi all, bit of help/info needed if you can I own some woodland in kent, only a small patch of 7 acres, am doing a little bit of hazel coppicing, but not touching the big trees, its more a place for the family to enjoy and our friends, anyway, we have wanted to install a zip wire within it, now I can only find packages via evil bay that sell a zip wire kit Zip Line / Zip Wire Rope Kit. 6mm x 50meter Length with Cable Slings & fasteners | eBay is this the best way to go, or do those of you that use ropes and pulleys all day know of a better way
  2. I hope he did at that price, my 7.2 acres just cost us £49k
  3. shame you wern't closer, my missus repairs motorbike leathers for bikers/racers, am sure her stuff is stronger than fishing line
  4. getting a suntan here in essex
  5. depends where you are, not sure on value, you wont be a millionaire from it, but extra money is extra money
  6. before you start cutting down any broadleaf's, you need to check they haven't got a tree preservation order on them, which they probably have, is it ancient woodland? if its a section of a larger wood, you can get lots of info from neighbours/owners although ground cover is good, you'll need pathways, ours is a bugger to get through with the brambles, so were busy cutting access areas
  7. pull/dig the young sycamore up, pot them up, then go onto SWOG (small woodland owners group) you'll sell them easy

    Day OFF

just tell her your going shooting, but for the above bottom left of your screen, click the windows button then click internet explorer you should get "tasks" appear, the top one is private browsing, it dont save in history:laugh1: not that I visit such places as redtube or porn hub
  11. working in a builder merchants as a youngster, we had a younger lad come in asking for a "long weight" (I was clued up on the gag, being told that the weight was for sash windows) they kept him there for a good 45 minutes, before giving him an 18" sash weight, with the instructions to tell his boss, that if that wait was not long enough, send him back for a longer one:laugh1: he came back a little later and was given a good hour, the old ones are the best my initiation to the job though involved grease, sawdust and the nether regions, by the firms female secretary:blushing:
  12. Ive moved plants before now at the wrong time of year, last year we moved a 1yr old cherry tree, lost most of the flowers, but it survived and is even better this year, just remember plenty of water till the roots get established again
  13. which is why I'll be dragging a caravan into our woods for storage, rather than building a shed and needing to ask someone what I can or cant do on my land
  14. a better site is here, Bodger's Ask & Answer • Index page
  15. we hate ours, good idea, lol
  16. who is echo made by? being a newbie here I have no idea but breaking it down, thats £60 per year 5 x 60 = £300 as stated already, would they honour the guarantee after 4yrs of use, or try saying, oh no, its void, you cut a tree down with it? I'd rather my £80 japan import, a years guarantee and if it breaks in a years time, buy another, thats 50cc too rather than 30cc
  17. Hi all, another new member here that has only just seen this section, and I was looking for an intro page too, but being a bloke unless it jumps out and slaps ya, were bound to miss it. anyway, married with kids living in essex, full time night working pest controller for london underground, up until last year my main hobbies were riding motorbikes and shooting, tried clays but never liked it, so all shooting was pest control related, shotguns, rimfire etc, then my mother died and left me some money, not wanting to see myself wasting it away I bought a 7 acre plot of woodland in Kent with full sporting rights. although I don't want to shoot everything that moves in it, it looks like it has been unmanaged for a number of years and walking within was near on impossible, so we have amassed a small collection of brush cutting strimmers and chainsaws, which in turn led me to this forum, we are currently cutting out pathways and a large central clearing for camping in, will be nice to be able to stay over night there and see what wildlife we have, not wanting to cut masses of trees down, in fact none at all, but there is hazel that needs coppicing, and therefore need to brush up on woodland management. I like the idea on carving stuff, not just big stuff, but also spoons etc, getting back to nature, discover the wildlife, and on occasions, blowing its head off, cooking and eating it:001_smile:
  18. saw one similar being used on yukon men
  19. maybe you need to get yourself a motorbike, as the throttle is on the right, it fells natural using a chainsaw that way
  20. I must be weird then, as Im left handed, but use a chainsaw right handed, feels weird using it the other way
  21. I wasted lots of money with yell and other people claiming it would better my website, better to add loads of tags and not spend money, even now, spending no money Im on the 1st page of google at the bottom
  22. I tend to run the motors a little rich in oil to begin with, with any engine (car/bike) were told to run in for xx amount of miles and keep revs low, of course chainsaws/strimmers need to be rev'd up fast when used, so my way of thinking is more oil in the mix, hopefully protects the engine a little??
  23. I couldn't work that one out either, as I also bought one of those at the time of buying the strimmers, and it only cost me £90, although I phone the order in rather than go through evil bay, get a good discount on the postage costs
  24. I thought I was missing one when I counted them in on wenesday 10th april, loads of pollen, busy bees - YouTube
  25. mine must be goon uns then:biggrin: dead rats smell terrible:blushing:
