    This may have been said as I admit to not reading the whole thread. If you go to a doctors with a bad back they will tell you to rest and give you some drugs. If you want to get your back fixed go to a chiropractor or osteopath, they will fix your back. Last place I would go with a bad back is the doctors, last thing I would take would be Diazepam. I prefer a bad back tbh.

    Weedazol is very effective (much more than anything else mentioned so far) but is not selective. I don't believe anything is selective against it.

    What I was really getting at is that by paying rates it obviously becomes a business site. Does this not make it easier to get planning for sheds and possibly house(s) at some point in the future? This is a question rather than a statement. You may begrudge paying the rates now but it may be very beneficial in the long term.

    Mine is lit. Drying my work clothes after getting drowned today, cooked my tea on it, cooked tomorrows lunch on it and heated enough water for me and my lad to have scalding showers. Might even light the one in the living room too, it's not very warm.

    I never felt the blade was tight enough on a 24". Maybe just my preference. If the 21" isn't big enough I would use a chainsaw anyway.

    It was while it was in the log basket that I could smell it rather than when burning it.

    A new Bahco 21" bow saw. Silkys are very good but IMO too expensive for what you are doing, plus the Bahco blade will last twice as long. (As long as you store it in the dry)

    I had some cherry given to me as firewood. Whenever I took the logs into the house it gave a strong typical cherry aroma. I have a cherry tree in my garden, would that do the same or does it need to be a special variety? Are some stronger smelling than others?

    Rabbit has dug up and eaten 4 of my tomato plants last night. Probably in retaliation for the 15 of his mates I shot on Monday.

    Mildew, aphids and canker, possibly blossom wilt. In that order.

    Wouldn't be too bad if the costs stopped there, but they go on and on Fuel for the vehicles is crippling never mind the effects of all the folks employed to try and make you go bust before you even get to work. The need for all the licences, certificates, tests etc etc is understandable to a point, it is the cost of them all that is damned hard to swallow. Add cpc stuff to it all now just to be on the safe side. When will they be doing retests on car drivers just to make sure they are safe? Never, because there would be uproar.

    I resisted a microwave for years. Have had one, didn't like it much and decided i wasn't having one. Son mithered me to get one, refused mainly because of the mess i knew he would make in it. Anyway, he inherited one off his Grandad. I used it for the second time yesterday and somehow managed to explode some Bombay potatoes all over the inside of it. I will eat them cold next time! As for the fire, lit it tonight because I was cold and wet when I got home. Unconscious within 30 minutes and comatose for about 3 hours. I guess I was tired too.

    If it is only 6" deep it is more than likely that it never was buried. BT armoured cable is very often referred to as "self burying".

    Seriously? If they can't be bothered to bury it properly and mark its presence it is their lookout. I wouldn't pay that's for sure. TBH in remote places they must be used to it, happens regularly to my line. (not due to me I hasten to add) and never heard of anybody having to pay. Not much chance of fibre optic on a remote moor either.

    Might light mine yet, if I can be bothered. Think I will get the one in the kitchen going, cook my tea on it and then have a scalding hot shower. I have got an immersion but it's set very low, having the fire lit will make it scorchio!
