  1. very true think twice cut once
  2. i wasn't to confident for the first twenty minutes or so but then shouted to the boss "oi check this swing out"
  3. not been climbing long and this sycamore was part of a big job we had last week we had been told to deadwood it, me and my boss climbed it i suppose for a bit of moral support more than anything anyway this is the tallest tree i have climbed and the most limb walking i have done, all with my new gear aswell. made me feel rather proud of my self considering when i started just over 3 years ago i was nervous about going up the ladder to cut a hedge
  4. Just out of interest is the idle speed controlled by a little slider in the handle the throttle is on ? Sure i have seen it an ipl for a long reach hedge cutter hope you find a solution Tim
  5. It had been sitting buried in a shed for over a decade flushed out fresh fuel and oil and off it went seems to be in good shape the chain brake is a bit stiff but other than that:thumbup1:

Was given this little saw a while ago, no bar and chain but does run and oil ect anyone used one ? Would it be worth buying b/c for it? thanks in advance tim
  7. Check out a youtube video by Eric frei called lanyard techniques basically illustrates the use of a running bowline with soft locked figure 8 ect im no expert but it gave me some ideas to try next time i have the chance (still new to climbing/apprentice) all the best Tim
  8. I bought my first ever saw (top handle) at an auction being sold as a lady's chainsaw haha
  9. the reason i bought them was because they looked good i researched the cord first then bought them. Then when someone anonymous or not puts a hint of doubt in my mind i have a right to be "oh noes" when my life is hanging on the end of it. i didn't have to get in contact with the supplier he contacted me after seeing the thread and put some very reassuring points across, i have also seen other members of the forum praising his work so problem solved
  10. I have been playing around with knots this arvo and gave the vt another another chance but used 5 wraps and 3 braids is this an ok thing to do ? Someone else mentioned earlier in this thread to use more wraps, i used a good anchor (my washing line pole haha) and gripped alot better
  11. Im getting a bit anxious about them now as i have two !!
  12. I believe that you are right i saw in a thread about pulley/friction savers that he got banned something about offering advice ? Im feeling a bit unsure about my e2e now do you think it best i just buy some 8mm cord ?
  13. Do you mean Sirius cord ? If so will buy a few meters today and give that a go Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  14. :thumbup1:Thanks for all the reply's and suggestions will keep at it and see how it goes. thanks again Tim
  15. been using the knot guide on here and keep repeating them untill i remember even taught my boss how to tie a few as all he has used since he started is prussiks
  16. haha that's how ive been learning
  17. I have tried vt distel and knut and the knut worked the best imo but still slipped not quite as much the others though.
  18. They aren't rated but spoke to the chap selling them saying that i wasn't sure about the core being exposed he reassured me that the core is very strong and gave me a link to a website with all the relevant specs i know a couple if people on here have bought his pulley savers that he makes up himself, do you guys think i should be climbing on them ?
  19. thanks for the suggestions i know the cord and line are fairly similar (11-8mm) but didnt think it would have too much impact. i don't think that its the climbing line affecting the hitch and it was slipping a lot if i didn't push the hitch up to get it to grip. could it be the that the cord is new and has not gone fuzzy yet ?
  20. here is the system setup with a distel i know the krabs are not oval they are being delivered next week and the cord is 80cm
  21. Thanks for quick reply just gotta fire up the laptop to upload a picture
  22. Hi guys not been climbing long but finally got some gear of my own rather than using the bosses my question is in regards to my hitch climber system i bought 50m of Yale blaze from ebay, H/C pulley and a couple of marlow viper e2e cords but no matter what knots i use the hitch still seems to slip after ascending or decent unless i help it? Which for a newbie is a bit nerve racking! any ideas i could try ?
  23. Have not got a clue will put some pics up tomorrow of the box of bits haha
  24. I have one in bits the looks very similar ? But it has heated handles did they make o heated handle model or do I have something different ?
  25. Suppose you could say I'm in the same boat as you. I have been in the trade for the past three years didn't even get to pick up a saw for the first six months !! But now every saw I own has been handed down to me by my bosses father inlaw who used to fell commercially they had all been used and abused but even after sitting In the back of the shed for ten years, bit if a clean up and they were fine had to replace odd bits and pieces but long story short I would go for getting a used saw personally because I don't have the money for a brand new one if Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
