  1. thanks again spud
  2. quick question what tachos do you guys use ? i have been tuning by ear but now since i have become engrossed in the world of porting and modding i think a little bit more precision is needed seen a few cheap ones on ebay but after my disappointment with cheap things
  3. paint job i done on my 064 all done with grey primer for the cases ect plastic primer and auto spray paints from the range
  4. I would rather not strip the 64 down again seeing as she's running nice now but I do have a spare 044 p/c Will crack on tomorrow ......and check my measurements
  5. Is there anything to be wary of when modding the intake port ? I didn't change the shape of the actual port like you have here I only made the outside larger and smoothed it out
  6. Would love it but too far away from me I'll make do with my 076 for the time being provided I can get an exhaust for it thanks anyway lads hope you get it Alec
  7. I had gone a touch further than the the 2mm clearance you suggested next stop will be duel port muffler but I will ask first will an aftermarket one be alright ? Or better off making my own ? Thanks again chaps Tim
  8. I can't believe the difference between them though low comp on the cheap cylinder despite being larger cc and after taking it off and looking closely the actual manufacturing looks terrible. I'm just shocked really but glad I took others advice and re-used the original cylinder with quality aftermarket piston. And all problems solved let's say I learnt the hard way as I'm sure others have but it won't happen again!
  9. Finally the 064 is finished and running like it used to lesson learnt about buying cheap piston and cylinder kits thanks to spud and rich next time I'll ask for your advice beforehand thanks a million guys much appreciated
  10. Baking with spud haha I can say the other half was a bit upset not just with the oven baking my crankcase but also every single part of the saw strewn across the kitchen but anyway something has turned open on my bench today that would be my new meteor piston
  11. When I did bearings on my 64 I just put the cases in the oven on 110 for bout 15 minutes don't know if it was the best way to do it but it worked Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Bump Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Taking shape mate
  14. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=140748037060&index=1&nav=SEARCH&nid=12074075828 this what you're after ?
  15. Would it not be possible to make your own ? You could design it how you want it that way:thumbup1:
  16. First of all thankyou yes that drill hanging up is what I used it's dremel type multitool made by gmc I'm quite impressed with it considering it cost just under 30 quid and the different bits I used were a 6mm ball shaped carbide burr and the sanding drums and grinding stones that came with the tool. Since those pictures I have smoothed/polished the exhaust port with wet and dry and a buffing wheel (also came with the tool) all in all I'm pleased with how it turned out
  17. well now ground gasket and muffler to match exhaust port beveled inside of the port and ordered the piston kit you suggested spud
  18. No the scallops are there originally what I ment was if I have widened the port more than I should have the new piston will not have scallops so I should be ok if I made it to wide for the stock piston skirt ?
  19. Cheers rich would not have thought of that also the opening on the muffler ? Spud if I have made a booboo the meteor piston you recommend dosent have the notches out of the skirt so would make good if I have made a mistake ? Thanks again for your input guys
  20. Will measure when I get home I scribed the old piston as it was no good anyway but I'm sure there is easily 2mm clearance
  21. i only know what i learn from forums and the internet but best way to learn is to do i will admit i did dive right in but little at a time checking all the way and there are no gaps that i can see but as i said first time
  22. whats on my bench today ? ORGANIZATION !!! also had a go porting my old 064 cylinder any constructive criticism ?
  23. Could it be a cheaper alternative spud ? Already bought a dremel, carbide burrs and a comp tester (that is no good) this week
  24. I'm still waiting for exhaust for my 76 but it's the same as an 051 take off the air filter undo the two 8mm nuts and one Allen bolt to remove the plate above the carb then you should be able to see two holes in the white plate that covers the cylinder undo the two Allen bolts jobs and that's about it mate
  25. Lovely job cheers once again I should have consulted the arbtalk gurus beforehand
