my birthday soon
2. lovley job cheers guys
3. right im with you now will have to wait untill i can get a comp tester if the aftermarket p/c is no good spud mentioned meteor pistons ? where would be the best place to get one from ? thanks again tim
4. i think the rings were ok cant remember where i put them ??? but the aftermarket was an 066 topend so they would be no good anyway i think i may have to get a comp tester when i have some spare cash. what do you mean by wet test ? sorry for all the questions i can do most basic things but still a bit of an amatuer
5. i hope so seeing as from the sounds of it i wasted money on that bigger aftermarket p/c i wouldnt like to lose the original cylinder aswell
6. and yes the new piston is on the right way. dont worry mate i am a fool most of the time haha
7. here are pics of the original its not that bad is it? i think when i was looking to replace the piston i saw big bore kits ect ect of course i wanted a bit more grunt seems that i made a mistake now i understood that buying a cylinder kit for £70 quid was never going to be as good as the real thing just didnt expect to be this bad
8. i havent got a compression tester i know i need to get one but i can tell its low on compression by comparing it to the other 064 which my boss has i can pick his up by the starter rope and it hangs for a fair while longer than mine and his has a larger bar just bit gutted really it took me a fair while to build and was my first proper teardown and rebuild from scratch first day i took it to work it just let me down
9. no its not simply bolt on and go it took a bit of fiddling but it is possible i spent a a fair amount of time reading up on it beforehand. the original cylinder seems to be ok couple of tiny dings and chips in it so maybe serviceable? im not so sure about the squish being too large as with no gasket the piston hits the top of the cylinder it hasnt even had a tank of motion lotion through it yet so could it possibly the rings havnt seated properly yet ?
10. hoping somebody could point me in the right direction on this .... my 066 had a piece break off the piston at work so thought it would be a nice project so srtip down, repaint ect. i put an aftermarket 066 head on it but now the saw has nowhere near the compression it used to ? i dont have a compression tester as i just cant afford one at the minute dont suppose anyone could give me some idea ? thanks tim
11. smashing mate you've got some skills
12.
pm sent bob:thumbup:

13. from what you have said and this my own opinion but maybe a stihl 026/ms260 (same saw 026 is the older model) will handle up to an 18" bar I have even read about people using a 20" bar but I think that would be pushing the limits of what the saw can do and its a nice light saw so easy to use for long periods all the best Tim
14. what's on my bench ? my 064 which I recently stripped down and rebuilt but but then I could not get her running right and kept bogging down to the point of almost stalling which I'm slightly irritated about and my 051 which is technically on the floor not much of it left as I'm now using most of it to make use of the 076 engine just waiting for someone on here to message me back for a muffler couple of gaskets and she's ready to go but right now I just finished a 13 hour night shift on the snowploughs so time kronenbourg and some rest
15. would anyone on here have an 075/076 muffler laying about that's surplus to requirement ? given up on getting an 070/090 but I found the intake manifold for my 076 so using all the interchangeable parts from my 051 just need muffler to bring it to life
