  1. Ah I read that as you were 9 weeks away from surgery... still, best of luck with the recovery then! Take it easy getting back into climbing, I understand the rehab is pretty crucial, everything going well with the op. I've not got a date yet, so fingers crossed it isn't too long. I've dislocated mine at least 30 times since that first bike crash, out the front and back he reckoned, so it's sounding like key hole is out the window now. Should be fine in the long run though. Till then, small chainsaws!
  2. I think it was falling off my bicycle a while ago, but I'm not 100% sure to be honest. Ligament tears for me too, as well as a fractured ball & socket, apparently it'll all be good once a surgeon gets at it but, takes a while eh? How'd you manage yours/what's the outlook? All the best with your op & recovery.
  3. Apologies... will do.
  4. Hey folks, just wondering if anyone has a 150 they'd be happy to get rid of? I used one a while back and basically rated it as a heavy replacement to a handsaw, which I wouldn't need as I'm young and strong. However, I broke/tore my shoulder a few months back (hence some may have noticed my fairly frequent posting now) and while I can climb a few days a week it's the silky that really kills me at the moment. I've been told a 5 month wait for surgery, hopefully it isn't, but in the meantime I've gotta pay bills and don't deal will with sitting on my arse. So, if anyone wants to get rid of a 150, drop me a message, let me know your price and hopefully I can milk my body for a bit more climbing before I'm out for 6 months... Cheers, Callum
  5. It isn't a screw, push it out from the other side. The allen head is to align the pin on insertion
  6. Bayern 3 Brazil Germany Cocktail Beer - YouTube Sure some have already seen that, still makes me chuckle though...
  7. How about now? Basically if it doesn't slip you're fine. Replacing the pin early on is probably best, as I doubt the one pictured would last a week the amount of friction it will be encountering. Also using a pulley saver definitely helps to stop it from slipping, I guess there's less resistance up top and so more friction in the actual device, which helps to ensure the cam grips well. Or something?
  8. Not usually a football fan either, but that was pretty spectacular. What was it, four goals in three minutes or something? Back to school Brazil, you just got burned...
  9. If it's of any use, this is what my last body looked like with a new pin when I replaced it.
  10. Exactly. When you say you've worn through to the pin do you mean this pin in question, or the screw that holds the spring? If you've worn through to that screw then it's definitely time to replace the body, however otherwise it's more a matter of wether it's slipping or not. On tachyon I've been able to get half way through that replaceable pin before writing off the body. A new body every year is fairly normal with regular use but every 6 months sounds a bit extreme...
  11. I believe the 8 spoked one is called a aegishjalmur, representing protection and irresistiblity in battle? I googled that. you should probably put it back though...
  12. Pulley saver is brilliant, but, the retrieval crab on the older version is a bad joke, and the newer version with the thimble just seems a faff to me. Would it be possible to bolt cutter the crab off and replace it with the art trapeze? Otherwise it is excellent.
  13. Do it man, isn't worth the risk! One of my best mates got it actually and it's heart breaking. I'm only getting my first shot next week but wouldn't return without it...
  14. No, it's tick borne encephalitis. I'm no doctor (although I am a surgeon, ho ho) but it's a neurological disease that can cause brain damage, paralysis and death. Known of a few foresters get it and it's pretty awful.
  15. Also, if you are serious or seriously thinking about working in Germany/Austria/Switzerland you'd be well advised to get down to your gp asap and ask for a TBE vaccination. Seriously. It's a basically non existent disease in the UK but is a pretty real problem over there, and the potential consequences of it are much too severe to ignore. Tick Alert
  16. Showa 310's, grippier and longer lasting than Pfanners, perhaps a little warmer but nothing silly.
  17. Never used graphite powder, and by the sounds of it I never will. I give them a good blast with an airline, then fill the gates with a very thin oil, work it in by moving the gates about a load and then blast it all out again with the airline. Wipe down with kitchen roll, finished. I do that maybe every 6 months to a year and I can't make my gates stick, try as I might. DMM crabs are the dogs in my experience.
  18. I suppose you could try coats, but furniture and beer barrels sounds like a better option to me. Scary stuff.
  19. Only gripe with the stihl cans is their oil cap is too large for the husky top handles. But of a pain in the arse... otherwise decent.
  20. We aren't working in offices, by all means look tidy and respectable when you go to price the job but when the boys are on the job it's up to them. Ithin think. Like Joe said, judge my work, not my looks. Wear hi viz only when strictly necessary, so almost never. Nothing massively against it, but I've never found a hi viz top that was actually comfortable, and it does look a bit daft...
  21. Brilliant choice! Perhaps... Time will tell, but if you're going to be doing it without a chainsaw at least you'll be doing it in style!
  22. How about this old beast? Razor Tooth 21 - Hand Saws - Tree Care
  23. Frontline hammock, also what I have. Not their lightest but solid, has the double layer sleeve underneath for insulation/keeping biting things away too. Have a DD 3x3 tarp aswell, brilliant sleeping combo.
  24. To chip in with some hammock opinions, I'm a DD Hammocks fan myself. I've spent months at a time not sleeping in a bed and most of that time I was in my hammock. Did my back a world of good. Hung it from trees, up trees, balconies, even just put it on the ground and used some stick to suspend the mosquito net. Bomber.
  25. Done very much the same in mcdonalds, sat down with my extra big McHeartdisease meal once and there was a homeless guy sitting opposite with a tiny cup of coffee. There was a blizzard going on outside so I just pushed my tray over the table and let him have it. He seemed pretty happy. Though that is a valid point...
