  1. It’s especially strange when it seems to be a select few on the right who really push the idea. If anything I’d say that they’re incredibly soft on the far right, white supremacy types we’re seeing atm. Remember the policing of the vigil for Sarah Everard? The right are a bunch of wet blankets.
  2. Aww were the youths being intimidating? That must’ve been awfully worrisome. What devils. I think most people would agree ‘Free Palestine and f*ck the edl’ are both pretty fair statements though.
  3. I really just think it’s the right stirring sh*t tbh. Sure I would say that, as I probably land more centre left, but I can’t see how the fault can’t ultimately lie with them. Over the past ten years some real wastes of space have been given platforms to stir up and normalised a racist and anti immigrant narrative. Then they harp on about a 2 tier policing system which is just such utter bollo*ks. Ultimately most of them are wastes of space anyway, no immigrants stealing their jobs because they probably don’t have one to lose. I get they’re angry, but they should be angry at themselves for being such worthless members of society. It’s just easier to blame their own miserable existence on someone more vulnerable. Perhaps the d*ck heads involved in these riots, (as well as those who think they have a point) will one day have a moment of clarity and realise they were being played to further some other losers political careers. I suspect however that’s a little too much introspection for them.
  4. Be a bit unfair on the Rwandans.
  5. Tbc I feel the term is incredibly generous for what’s happening. If you’re able to answer what they are ‘protesting’ against then I’d be fascinated to hear that.
  6. It doesn’t matter what you think about it, it’s factually accurate, not hype. They’re not a cohesive group, but it is a shared sentiment of intolerance and hatred which needs to be called out. If your community was being threatened by a bunch of knuckle dragging racist half wits, would you sit back and see your neighbours beaten, their businesses torched? While I don’t condone any of this, I don’t think it inappropriate to protect your community. The very fact the telegraph describes the right wing mob as a ‘protest’ says it all really. A protest against what?
  7. Since you’re dredging up my post again; you’re the one that made that comparison. I wasn’t likening the riots to any other events, simply saying those involved were vile. I really feel for those who are the target of this aggression and it would frighten me if I was in their shoes, living in one of these communities. That’s all. You choose to make the frankly bizarre comparison to other attacks. You’ve repeatedly yammered on about those involved being treated equally, which I don’t think anyone has disagreed with. I’m not sure what point you’re arguing, and I’m not sure you do either.
  8. I guess that’s part of the problem, they don’t really seem to be policed the same? I just saw a video of them setting a holiday inn housing asylum seakers on fire, or trying to at least, while the police watched on. I appreciate mobs/riots are presumably fairly spontaneous, but they (the police) know what’s kicking off, they should be ready to wade in there and shut these people down. I just saw Malaysia issued a travel warning to the uk. letting this drag on will have far reaching consequences.
  9. Nobody has ever said not to apply the laws equally, what’s your fixation with this? They’re simply expressing distaste at this pond life engaging in violent, racist riots popping up all over England right now. What’s your problem with that?
  10. They certainly weren’t as bad as what’s happening right now. Did you feel more threatened by the BLM protests than what’s going on right now?
  11. I’ve never suggested that. Nope, never said that. I’ve since said that I believe the intent behind them does affect the circumstances. But I’ve never said the law should be applied differently. I’ve merely pointed out that the mobs on the streets right now are carrying out far more serious crimes and hopefully their sentencing reflects that. Comparing them to BLM and pro Palestinian protestors, as you did, is just ridiculous.
  12. The reason is absolutely relevant. The Leeds riots, misguided as they were, were about children being taken from a community. The current riots are against people of colour. The very essence of what’s going on right now is hatred and intolerance. edit: and I do actually believe that that reasoning affects the material facts in these cases.
  13. The difference is their actions, surely you can see that? I don’t remember seeing BLM protestors dragging anyone out of their cars while people screamed ‘kill them’ and ‘stab them’. I don’t remember pro Palestinian protestors looting small businesses and burning police cars. I don’t remember any of them breaking into refugee accommodation to, at the very least, scare the living shit out of some of the most vulnerable in this country. So while they should, and will, be held to the same standards; their actions are blatantly abhorrent in comparison. Trying to compare them to peaceful protestors just shows what a low life you are…
  14. Interesting talking point. You aren’t wrong in that there’s little organisation there, it’s not as though they stand for anything, they just stand against a lot. If you look at the definition of terrorism I believe that it’s basically on the money. While there isn’t a political manifesto, there is a political aim of ‘getting rid of ethnic minorities’. Which coincidentally aligns very closely with the likes of Farage. Given that just stop oil protestors were jailed for four years a truly hope that these scum get to rot in their own filth for many years to come.
  15. No, what’s your point?
  16. I think the far right care little about the truth and far more about justifying their hateful stance by any means. So yes, exaggeration and fabrication, which they’ve been doing for years, are absolutely believable. Right?! I’m very against the tighter security in what is already one of the most surveilled countries in the world. But I’m more against racist pieces of sh** making other peoples lives awful. Send the police in the brush up on their brutality I say. That lot deserve every bit of it.
  17. Some of the stuff I’ve seen pop up today and over the past week has been utterly disgusting. Seeing people being dragged from their car by mobs screaming ‘kill them’, I find hard to watch the way our country is slipping right now. And that’s as a white British person. For a non-white British person it must be utterly terrifying. This is the clear and obvious progression of the Farage/Robinson anti immigrant rhetoric though. It’s not surprising at all, just utterly vile. That they still have a platform is a disgrace.
  18. Yeah, they probably should be eh? I found that turning the sheeve by hand it was a bit lumpy, but under load it was totally fine. No play in it. No idea why, but it's not been an issue.
  19. A little bit of a bumpy feeling when brand new is fairly normal I think, I always presume it’s just the bearings settling in or something? The small pintos have bushings rather than bearings.
  20. I had a charger and 200x battery die on me out of nowhere. Both were covered under warranty for me thankfully, but only just. I’ve got a few bits of husky battery kit and they’re good tools, but they’re built like toys. Ditto the batteries and chargers.
  21. I’ve worked with a fair number of Ash that have recovered pretty well. Particularly older trees where there’s ADB, but not too awful. Early stages management of dead wood seems a very reasonable approach. I’m not saying it’s insignificant, but there are definitely those who are a little trigger happy as soon as Ash are looking a bit peeky.
  22. Yeah I’ve done loads of Sirius, both 8 & 10mm. It’s a pretty easy line tbh. Maybe try a thinner wire for the fid, or just buy one from treeworker. Thats what I do. If your measurements are on point, then it’s either your technique or tools causing issues. I’d suggest it’s probably a bit of both if you’re having that much grief. It looks like you ended up with a tidy splice though, but like I said, if it’s that hard then something’s not right.
  23. A hollow fid won't help. A wire fid is my go to for basically all double braid, you need a longer one which you can attach to a secure anchor though. If you're really struggling it's because you've done something wrong. Find measurements you trust and be really meticulous with them.
  24. OP thimble loop used 8mm cord and a larger thimble. I’m fairly sure it needs the red retrieval cone which won’t pass through a small pinto.
  25. Dunno like... Looks like a rebranded Jiang su ropes and belts offering.
