  1. The ol pocket rocket from when I was 20. Still the most fun I've ever had in a car. Only recently dragged it out of the garage and sold it on eBay. Keep getting updates from the buyer showing me the renovation progress. Arrgh so jealous, just wish I had the time and money to restore her myself!
  2. Mines the 2009 model. Paid 2200 for it a couple of years ago. If I were to sell it today I'd do so for 2500 so reckon you're spot on there mate.
  3. Still with trust myself. 10 mil they still seem the cheapest but i dint bother searching around last time. Be careful reading the small print with other companies, lots of cover is missed out!
  4. Bonfire and baked potatoes felling elms in the sun for the national trust today :-)
  5. cani have some of your firewood please woodworks!
  6. yeah i get annoyed with that. constantly battling with the saw pulling it threw unions. love attaching it on when spiking/ dismantling though although havent done for a while as the last two petzel carritools ive had have broken!
  7. More drivel for you mate
  8. Dean and Andy, who said anything about slagging off. I was quite careful with what I said. In relation to the word numpties, I'm assuming you we're referring to, I was using it in this context. Numpty Scottish usage: a) Someone who (sometimes unwittingly) by speech or action demonstrates a lack of knowledge or misconception of a particular subject. 'This forum is not for you to air your dirty washing' No it's not, I was clearly stating some facts and asking for feedback about the matter. That is what forums are for isn't it? 'As for having an issue with a dealer take it up with them NOT us......' Tried that. I'm starting to wonder what forums are for if you can't ask a question about something anymore! In hind sight, fair enough, I shouldn't have named names but I didnt realise there was such sensitivity on here and therefore i do apologise profusely if I have offended anyone.
  9. Drivel?! Excuse me? As most threads on here, they seem to drift off. I thought id take the opportunity while reading something not dissimilar to clear something thats been on my chest for a while without starting a new thread and directly slating the company. If you must.. I always use the chainbrake in the tree, caught me off guard once when the chain was slack and cut through the rope dangling below me. Luckily i noticed. On the ground, rarely. Happy?
  10. Sorry, couldn't be bothered to read through all ten pages so forgive me if its already been discussed but it seems all that's being talked about is the mining strikes. What about the Falklands and how much of a fass that was?!
  11. While we're on the subject ... Bought a brand new 460 from fr jones 4 years ago. It had a little under an hours use when it started to smoke and we realised the clutch had burnt out!! We took it apart and couldn't find out why this had happened until we went to put it back together and realised there was no c clip! So we finished work early, as this was the only big saw we had on site, and needed! I drove an hour and a half back up to fr jones 4 hrs in total including being there. I explained what happened and that the saw had obviously not been assembled properly and that they needed to reimburse me with a new clutch etc. Well.. I had 4 blokes behind the counter trying to tell me that as an inexperienced chainsaw operator (at the time I had been using them for 10 years) that I had been using the saw with the chain brake on!! I said this was not possible and argued with them for a while about it and they patronisingly said, 'have you ever used a saw this powerful before? A saw this powerful will override the chain brake, Stihl have even released this information'... I laughed... Feeling intimidated, frustrated and about to loose my temper, I took a deep breath and realised I could not win this battle against 4 numpties blatantly trying to pull one over on me. I paid the fee and will never return. Has anyone else ever had this experience? With 'the power of the saw overriding the chain brake on a brand new saw? ROFL. Or with the customer service at fr jones?
  12. big douche 'The guy died stealing i do not like thieves of any kind!' I do not like this comment or any others you have made. It sounds as if you're insinuating he deserved it! 'It was illegal', booh fecking hoo. You sound like someone who works for the council. BLACK. WHITE. Stealing?! Its a tree thats fallen over in a public woodland run by the council, owned by the tax payer. So he wanted a bit of free fire wood? So bloody what? If he hadnt gone along and taken it the tree probably would have been left there to rot and go to waste anyway or eventually be cut up by council contractors and sold on as fire wood being extra cost to the tax payer as well. If the tree was still standing and he 'felled it' he obviously chose one that needed to come down so good on him, it might have fallen on your kids while they were playing in the woods. Not to mention whether he had dementia, mental health problems etc..
  13. So little in it just put a tonne
  14. Noddys the man! I'd be interested too if you sort something out!
  15. Will do mate. And you could teach me how to surf properly! Also tempted with the Argentina job when he requires more people later in the year. Just put off by going from winter to another winter.
  16. High David. The college is merrist wood. Can't remember what the spec was exactly. It was part of out year 2 practical assessment. The tree was full of dead wood and and I guess the reason for the reduction was to balance the crown and reduce weight from certain branches. I think the tree was over run with a fungi but can't remember for the life of me what. When doing the coronets I seem to remember 2 of our lecturers bickering between themselves. One saying it was pointless and that due to the trees location, the branches would have to be removed in the near future anyways. And the other saying it was good practice and that it have us a chance to have a go at it.
  17. Some of today's findings..
  18. Sorry I can be quite vague. I meant the decay of the wood as in why we decided to fell instead of again cutting out the infected branch in hope.
  19. This particular veteran has had many branches removed over the years in order to try and save it. 2 years ago there was a major limb failure and shortly after that a slight infection to part of the crown. For safety reasons it was decided that it should be removed completely. After felling the extent of the decay was obvious.
  20. Thought i'd start a new thread documenting some of the Dutch Elm Disease work ive been undertaking over the last few years. More recent pictures and info will follow as this season progresses.
