    Unbelievable

I just cant see why people do this Stihl MS 211Chainsaw SPARES OR REPAIRS | eBay A brand new fully working saw with warrenty is £289
  2. dont forget to put the u shaped retainer in to hold the 2 long rods in postition. (its missing in this picture) fits in the hole just below the threaded hole in the middle of the picture.
  3. The km130 needs the timing/tappets setting and the hl100 needs a new clutch drum bearing.
  4. Top right hand side, behind where the carb sits.
  5. The bigger the number the higher the price, and for parts aswell (stihls anyway) Where would you be selling them? im not really sure someone who uses saws for a living would buy off auction websites. Good condition homeowner saws are always a good seller.
  6. Are we getting a follow up on this story? it was a fortnight ago when it went in for a repair quote.
  7. The 2 main agents within 30 mins drive from me both charge around £50 plus vat an hour workshop time. I charge £24 an hour and just get enough work this time of year to keep me ticking over, roll on lawnmower season. They on the other hand are chock a block with work.
  8. I know a guy that buys non running saws, pays about £70-£100 for them, plus usually around £15 postage. On average he spends £35 and around 4 hours cleaning and repairing each one. Its a proper job, everything tested and working. They sell for £175-£225 he swears hes making good money from doing this. Lets go on the bottom amounts. £70+£15+£35 = £120 Outlay 4 hours labour Sells for £175 less 10% sellers fees + £12 paypal fees total sale price is then £145.50 So them 4 hours labour comes in at £6.37 per hour. Only just slightly better than minimum wage. If you do it as a hobby thats fine, but a way to make you rich it never will. Repairing other peoples machines is the way to go, you dont need to invest huge amounts in specalist tools. Beware though if you do set up repairing machines for other people, you have to advertise and undesirables get to know whats going on in your sheds or garage. Beef up security if your having other peoples tools in overnight. They will even take half stripped down machined.
  9. All the engine parts should be ok. If the plastic has melted behind the clutch and made a hole into where the oil pump sits, then when you replace the damaged parts and start her up oil will be pumped through the hole and onto the clutch making the saw unuseable, weve tried repairing them but to no avail. The only way was to get a new engine case. New part plus labour makes older saws not worth doing, seen as yours is nearly new may make it viable.
  10. my guess is that a new engine case may be required, seen lots like this.
  11. Etesia mowers, never really come into contact with them, but i know loads of people who have and they say stay well clear, there crap.
  12. There is nothing on my bench, hasn't been for last 3 days. I wish there was as im bored senseless and starting to look at all the shiny things i dont need in the 2013 tool catalogue that arrived this morning.
  13. Should Son actually read Wife??
  14. Ive seen loads with the big end bearing shot to pieces, and in turn wrecked the piston and cylinder. I was told that not using the throttle lock helped prolong the life of them.
  15. I think ebay should give you more room in the feedback to write a good description of how the sale went, i dont sell many saws on there any more, used to do about 15/20 machines a week but people started taking the piss. Because ebay is all for protecting the buyer and shafting the seller. We used to get hedgecutters and brushcutters sent back because they "werent what was expected" its "too heavy" the machines had been used so we were been treated like a hire shop. We had to give a full refund and got back a machine that had been used and probably abused. We appealed every case but every time the rosolution centre sided with the buyer. Only sell bits on there every now and then when weve got plenty of one part in stock. To sell now i use the local paper, gumtree and farmers trader.
  16. Only worth what people are willing to pay, Stick it on the bay in an auction and let the masses decide. Prices on there seem to be slipping at the moment for good honest saws, cant understand why people pay a fortune for "spares or repairs" or "just got it out of the shed and it wont start" saws. My reckoning is that these saws are being bought up by DIY repairers, given a new chinese top end and the oily rag treatment and resold as just serviced, owned from new saws. There is a lot more to fixing one than that. I had a 260 and a 250 in the other week with chinese top end on that came off ebay, the 260 was leaking from both crank seals and seized, the new owner had only run it for 5 mins and the 250 had what i can only describe as veseline to seal the cylinder. I did a report on both and they are being persued through paypal for a full refund.
  17. These work, you just need to get the correct one to fit the inside diameter of your hose.
  18. I use the red rubber tapered bungs that are made for the home brewing market, being tapered they fit the full range of machines. Just dont do what i did first and buy a bag full of the type with the hole through the middle.
  19. This afternoons job was to make a runner out of a 025 and a MS230, the 025 oil tank is cracked and the 230 siezed. Just need to track down a carb and the airfilter parts and cover and we should be up and running by the weekend.
  20. The woman who phoned me said, that none of the other parcels that were in the van would be covered by their insurance if it leaked fuel out and seeped into other items the van was carrying. She gave me an example of "Would you be happy if you recieved a parcel that contained new clothes that had a whiff of petrol about them" tongue in cheek i said that i smelled of diesel 24/7 so it would be a nice change. Anyway, gone slightly off topic, Keep up the good work GardenKit im looking foreward to the next machine up for grabs.
  21. Parcel 2 Go have added chainsaws to their prohibited list. When you tick the box to say you have read their policy on restricted/prohibited items and still send something thats on their list and they find out, they ring up and try to get you to pay a £75 fine for invalidating the insurance on the van that carried it. They also wont move the saw any further and you have to go and collect it from where ever it is in the country.
  22. Has it been listed the bay? im looking for a nice little 023/025 to work on and this one has popped up stihl 023 chainsaw | eBay same location and same name.
  23. Sounds like your guage is suspect as id be doubtful it should run at all at 90 psi. What sealant have you used to reseal the cylinder? are you sure its sealed correctly with no leaks? I know the seal shouldnt concern the compression but it could be a cause of bad running. Why was the need to change the piston and rings, if it lean seized you will need to find out why or it will happen again.
  24. Coil. My little 180 did exactly the same.
  25. The paint stihl use is actually called Stihl grey, it just looks white. You can get it made up into aerosols cans if you go to a paint supplier last time i got some it was minimum order or 10 cans so i sold the ones i didnt need on the bay. Or you can order it from Stihl, but it was expensive. VHT paint will do the exhaust guard and it can be bought at any motor acessories store but i doubt the white one will match.
