  1. Well, it would depend on how your fuel is stored - transferral, temperature and light all obviously shorten the lifespan with or without fuel stabiliser.
  2. I have no idea, I can only relay what information I have been given. I know that there are several thousand combi cans already made, but were not allowed to be distributed due to silly red tape rules, I was also given a release date. Whether husky have bought forward the release of the improved cans or have managed to get the red tape overturned. If your local dealer has had them for a while, that would definitely be recalled stock.
  3. Fuel stabiliser doesn't remove the ethanol, nor does it stop fuel degradation, it just retards it slightly.
  4. That was rather a dick comment! And completely irrelevant to the thread!
  5. Wrong thread I think?
  6. That is a question I'm not willing to answer on an open forum watched by Husqvarna, I'm sure you can understand why. I will answer via pm if you have any other questions. The 'fault' with the cans is that they can be filled to the top... Yes, it's EU red tape time! EU law requires cans to have a 10% volume for expansion of vapour, that is un-fillable without tilting the can all over the shop.
  7. I don't think these are the final product though bud, they sound more like husky have sent you the recalled faulty cans, they're only just starting to build up new stock in Sweden, ready for release in May.
  8. You'll never stop that! Every oil and fuel thread me and TCD post on ends with us trying to explain! Then two months later a new thread with the same questions appears.
  9. You are aware more ethanol goes into higher octane fuels? Super unleaded is designed to have a higher knock point, this is done by adding larger hydrocarbons to the fuel, which includes ethanol. Stubby, I wondered how long before you pitched your oil!
  10. 9.66 denotes month and year- sept 1966 1103/63 is chainsaw model and length, 25". Now the interesting thing is I've been trying to find out what 1103 translates as, my best guess is the Stihl blitz.
  11. If the oil is rated the same, it's the same quality! What josh is worrying about is if the Stihl hp super oil will be sufficient enough or if it will cause damage, and if the higher cost of husky XP oil is worth it. The answer is that the Stihl oil is sufficient (it's rated jaso fd, the same as XP oil), the XP oil is not worth double the cost. An engine seizure will always be attributed to the mix first, only with aspen (or motomix) can the mix be disregarded as the fault. This is especially the case with e-carbs where tuning is done to set parameters. A good example of this would be where a poor quality oil has been used at 50:1, the saw would tune to match the rpm, even if it meant that the saw wasn't being lubricated enough. Another is amsoil at 60:1. The mixture would be too rich (too much petrol to air, so the saw would lean out to compensate, decreasing the amount of oil available to lubricate the engine.
  12. You've got it early!
  13. Haha, you're bloody good at it too! Learned most of what I know off your other thread.
  14. Oh god, his head won't fit in his workshop soon!

    Mushrooms

    Somewhere warm and damp
  16. I can see your problem wes, your saws in bits!

    Mushrooms

Shiitake means oak mushroom, they can be cultivated on oak chip or logs
  18. The black rubberised/plasticised handle was introduced in 1972. The carb kit is DG5HL from rowena (I have a carb kit here for reference).

    Stihl 08s

I have one of these, heavy but a lot of torque.
  20. The hyway kit is the better choice out of the big bore kits, although you will need to change the carburettor, as it will run very rich with the narrow Venturi
  21. Lichen is a symbiotic organism, the fungi grows around and protects a single celled algae. In return, the algae provides the fungi with food. Some lichens can be very particular with where they grow, with air quality being important.
  22. Hp super is jaso FD oil, husky manual says 50:1 It doesn't void warranty any more than XP oil, the engine is not covered against bearing failure, lean seizes or air leaks.
  23. So what do you do on a service Barrie?
  24. Hadn't noticed it was shorter tbh! As for the reliability, the assemblies I order are for saws much older than me, the oldest being 46 this year! Stihl recall the new ones before the warranty runs out and give you an even newer one Husky does assemblies too, they just don't contain the parts you expect, giving you random useless ones instead, such as a spring guide for the front hand guard.
  25. It's not a big step! Photo? Problem with the 1106 series, there have been 3 or 4 crankcases, 6 starter houses, 8 carburettors, 4 oil tanks, 3 crankshafts, 5 mufflers, 4 cylinders, 10 pistons, 4 or 5 air filters, 3 stop switches, 6 fuel caps, 6 clutches, 3 clutch covers, 4 handle types, 6 sets of dogs, 10 top covers, 2 carb intakes, 5 ignition systems, 4 HT lead designs. And Stihl liked to slam them together in a random order, my guess is you have a later (super) casing, along with clutch cover and starter, carburettor, yet it has an early front handle, late 60's rear handle, very early muffler and bar, but the bar isn't the really early Canadian version. Just to confuse you it looks identical (other than the muffler) to mine, apart from my really early (early 60's) starter.
