  2. Suggested this, but they want it done instantly as they have a dog ...... Did tell them dog will wreck it! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  3. Some peoples attitudes suck! Everyone starts somewhere. Surely no one is suggesting that before any of us venture into offering a service, we invest in any piece of feasibly required equipment, training, and insurance!? Not all that long ago people learnt skills and earned their bread with common sense and hard work...... How ever did they cope without tickets and insurance!!!?!? And as for people taking work from established professionals. This kind of job is, the old boy up the road needs his hedge reducing, or lady up the road needs her grass cut type stuff! Good on you graham 777! I started in the same place 4 years ago Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  4. Existing lawn isn't knackered as such, they've just had an extension so the back garden has been trashed! And the previous owners had a shed and veg patch and the areas are to be turfed over. Seems well drained enough, but as said, if I feel it necessary after removing old lawn, I may work in some sand/loam. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  11. Glyphosate's mode of action is to inhibit an enzyme involved in the synthesis of the aromatic amino acids: tyrosine, tryptophan and phenylalanine. It is absorbed through foliage and translocated to growing points. Backs up my understanding of glyphosate ? And as for handing information that could fall into the wrong hands..... Weed killer or Concentrated salt can be used to kill a tree....... Yeah would need to be a genius to work that out! Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  12. Day to day stuff Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App
  13. Good man! But why roundup ? It's glyphosate, surely has to have contact with foliage to take affect?? Have herd of people using sodium chloride to kill trees before. Sent using Arbtalk Mobile App

  21. Cheers everyone! The work is regular as and when subbing, so fits in with my work perfectly! First day, reduction on a small birch in a front garden over a wall and a garage roof, all went well. Second in was a tall dead birch that had died and subsequently snapped and hung itself up in a really nice beech tree opposite. Ran up the beach, set up my main line, then worked from there to clear as much of the top off as possible. Once top was dismantled, dropped down out of the beech, ran up the birch with gaffs, felled the failed section off, then chogged it down. Wish I had a chance to get more pics HAPPY DAYS!
