  1. Totally agree with this from both sides, I think what Skyhuck says is right, just by the way they enter a tree may be enough however I have met a few demolition experts(great at large dismantling) but put them on a sensitive reduction and crap(just an example).
  2. Not sure how true this is as in area, might be true nationwide, as most good subby climbers will have normally got enough contacts to be busy. I'm sure you will find good climbers through Arbtalk, but you will probably find some not so good ones too aswell as plenty of inexperienced ones who will become good with time, everyone starts somewhere. Best of luck:thumbup1:
  3. I think after seeing any certification and any information, references a short trial period is the only way to know for sure, proof is in the pudding of ability and how you can get on working together.
  4. Tree life may be able to help, I did a course with them.
  5. Screwfix waterproof trousers, hi viz,£9.99 I think, have done alright so far, most other cheap ones would have been in the bin ten times over by now:thumbup1:
  6. I find this most disturbing and IMO sounds like a way for certain types to cash in on woodland they have acquired, probably one or two of the persons proposing the idea, the rich helping the rich(themselves). But what realistically can be done to stop these things going ahead ???
  7. Great way to go, what is the access like?
  8. There is nothing wrong with bringing someone else in, I agree with Mr. Aspen upto a point, If you feel comfortable with the job then do it, but why not get help if you are not sure, maybe a learning thing?? Do what you feel comfortable with IMO.
  9. I think 99m.:thumbup1:what happens if peeps guess the same are we gonna get half a zag or zig?
  10. Er ! No never done that before:001_rolleyes:
  11. Sounds to me like some of the posters are on something,"60 ft legs",, but in all seriousness not acceptable to be at work under the influence of anything, and yes I am a hypocrite
  12. I'm going Saturday, good day out:thumbup:
  13. Hard to see clearly,Box elder I think,Acer negundo
  14. I got a call yesterday after getting home from work, a friend of mine asking me to come and help him get his parrot, which was 40 foot up a tree. I said yes and went to meet him at the address. Precious, the blue and gold Macor(not sure of the spelling)was in the top of a eucalyptus, I climbed up next to the bird and persuaded her down to my friend with a banana who was up a ladder lower down. The rescue went well, Precious thankfully I think wanted to come down, she had already spent two nights avoiding capture in the local grave yard, flying from tree to tree as soon as my mate got to the top of a ladder. The home owner has also taken my number to come back and price up some tree work.

  18. I've just had another birthday this week and ended up going to the dentists with my partner, who had an appointment, only to find out I was booked in for a missing front tooth, ended up having two more teeth pulled and replacements put in:confused1:It was a most horrible experience, still got face ache now.I have been reliably informed though since, that I no longer look like a thug.I can smile again without scaring people:thumbup::thumbup:
  19. Don't know about flooding Felix,I left a slimby, leggy sychamore(to be reduced over the house roof) with a brand new posh summer house underneath, wrong job for yesterday, when I got home(mid morning)I didn't go out again, even the dogs didn't want to go out.It looks like it might brighten up soon today though,I'll be carry on with a B.B.Q regardless of what the weather does.
