1. No not the only however probably the most popular! IMO:thumbup1:
2. I have a mitox 6224 which is the 62cc model with the 24" bar and these are my thoughts on it: 1. anything that can be tightened tighten when you get it as it will come lose! 2. by spare air filters as they are hard to clean on site and when dirty the saw will run real bad! 3.change the bar as the saw will run a 24" bar but struggles in hard timber. 4. Don't expect it to be as good as a husky or stihl! I've had mine over 2 years (it cost £250)and after realising the above I now have a saw that really bites with a 16" bar on it. It even impressed my friend who is husky through and through enough for him to put his husky down for 3 full days to use the mitox! Its cheap and cheerful and with the above done it is well worth it, Ive abused it and it starts everytime and has not been problematic once. Spares are cheap and easy to get, the whole carb (walbro) is only £22 on mine, a carb service at my local dealer on a 60cc husky is £55+vat you do the maths! I'd buy another although I still have my Husky's and Stihl's as well.
3.
I have a very good friend who was my trainee before I joined the police in 2004, he was 18 when I took him on he is now 31 and in his third year of business. Last year only his second year he did over 60,000 and his skill set is smaller than mine!! It has made me re-evaluate things somewhat! I'm on the verge of going part-time so I can put some more time into the business with a view to building it to the point I can either leave early or have staff to do the stuff I don't want to and I can be a bit choosy!!

4. Bag not included its tipped on the drive or as close as possible!
5.
Hello mate, yeah definitely stay in touch I have a fairly wide contacts book and have been known to travel abit for work, got a Weston S Mare job coming up soon!! Unfortunately for me I joined late in life so have a good 15 odd years left unless I build things to the point I can justify leaving early!! which is a thought the way things are going. Much like you I'm busy and don't advertise other than on the internal intranet notice board. cheers Hugo aka Arniecardigan Copse and Loggers

6. Fair play you started with a woodland creature....I started with a mushroom.....and guess what......my carving career ended with a mushroom too!!!!!
7. I sell builders bags of softwood at £40, its all arb waste so as said previously it clears the yard! Most people ask if it burns quicker to which I reply a little bit hence I split the logs a bit bigger to compensate, in reality it means I do less splitting so at £40 with only 20 minutes splitting time and no costs other than delivery I reckon on making nice profits. I sell plenty of it to because so many people just want cheap wood, they don't care as long as it keeps them warm!!
8. As proved by the above answers there are so many different levels of experience...for me if I'm looking for an experienced Groundie he has to know what needs doing before I have to tell him! Its simple if we get to a job and he has to ask "SHALL I GET THE SAWS OUT" and "SHALL I FUEL THEM UP" then he's not experienced unfortunately all to often I get people who have to ask "SHALL I GET OUT OF THE TRUCK NOW" that one really gets my back up!!
9. Oh and my grandmother was a traveller aswell, just thought I'd throw that in for good measure!
10. If you read my other thread started tonight you would realise that it was started by someone who is passionate about arb and is also a serving police officer, I run an arb company alongside my arb business, I have been in the arb world for over 20years and been a copper for 9 years! Read it and hopefully it may change your opinion or view slightly!
11. Its everywhere at the moment, but Gloucestershire has had a massive increase in incidents it used to be weekly but has jumped to multiple incidents almost every day!
12. Your not alone at the moment unfortunately there has been a real increase in Gloucestershire over the past few weeks with some really organised thefts as well as the usual walk in while your backs turned chainsaw thefts!! Something needs to be done but not sure what that something is...I don't have as much kit as you so it all lives at home with me and my bloody BIG dog!! I'll keep my ears and eyes open and let as many people locally know however I suspect your kit will be out of Gloucestershire by now!!
13. Thought about a mog and rb44 and fantasied about the new 4x4 Iveco but the budget doesn't quite go that far! Thought about a transit county tipper but have never ever seen one! Even thought about trying to build one on a transit county chassis and running gear but then that's fantasy as well as theres not enough hours in the day!! Looked for a vwT4 crewcab Syncro Tipper but found rocking horse poo and still no Vw!! Contemplating tipping trailer behind the Daihatsu as that is realistic, contemplating a chip box on a Landy with tipping chipbox but not sure about the capacity or I could just go old snily face transit with ply greedyboards and the Daihatsu and trailer!! Thing is I've seen so many friends spend a fortune changing vehicles in the quest to find the perfect one or combination and I'd rather spend hours working out than spending £££££'s on a fruitless search!!
14. Someone else has probably priced it using his Aldi 49cc saw and 2 eastern European blokes with sack trucks.......and good luck to them!!!
15. Not had experience of claiming through them as I couldn't get them to supply an accurate and detailed policy quote! When I pushed them on certain policy details I wanted clarifying they turned into politicians and skirted around the question without ever answering!! So I went to Lycetts who I found to be very professional and were clear in what is and isn't covered!
16. I had this argument with someone the other day, he moaned at £425 for a conifer removal, not quite a full day but long enough as we couldn't do anything else profitable with the rest of the day. I then asked the following what do you do to earn a living? he said he was a painter and decorator, so I asked what his day rate was? he replied £180 so I asked how much kit including van do you need to take to the clients house to make £180? he replied about £3000 I then explained that to cut his conifer down he would have around £25000 worth of truck and kit parked on his drive along with 2 fully qualified and experienced professionals and a labourer!!! He then apologised and agreed the price!! Too many people think anyone can do tree work and its not a real profession and until that changes you'll always get idiots moaning about price but it won't ever change if contractors are working for peanuts!!
17. The plan is to run two trucks (unless I can find 1 that does it all) one 4x4 and the other is either my current T4 or another tipper, so do I sell the crewcab T4 and replace it with single cab, the compromise is more chip/log capacity over seats and internal space!
18. I have a dilemma so thought I'd ask for some opinions! Its not as simple as "WHATS THE BEST ALLROUND ARBTRUCK" as I don't think there is a truck that does it all, although I could stand corrected! I run a Vw T4 crewcab tipper which I find to be a real versatile truck and it only has 55,000 miles on the clock, it seats 5 plus kit carries 1.3ish tonne plus tows the chipper. My business has developed and I need 4wd to cope with the terrain as the T4 is front wheel drive and rubbish on wet grass let alone any real off road! I have also been doing more big trees so the capacity of the T4 is just not enough for either chip or/and logs. I have been offered a Diahatsu fourtrack cheap so that's the 4wd sorted it also tows 3.5 tonne legally so the capacity for moving timber has more than doubled! So the real question is "do I sell the T4 and get a singlecab tipper or keep it" if the answer is "sell it" then "what single cab tipper do I get?" Answers on a postcard please!!
19. I know where there is one brand new, the dealer cant even display it as they are now a husky dealer not a stihl dealer. They will not take less than the original rrp though (manager is a cock) I've offered twice on it but they just wont budge so I gave up on it!!
20. That's 4 serious Arb thefts in Gloucestershire over the weekend that I am aware of and more in the past few months! That's a proper crime pattern/trend but because of how Gloucestershire police work they probably won't be linked or looked at in any more depth than anything else!
21. Simon @ Valley Forestry 01453821870 or John @ Vale Forestry 01608 682652
22. I got one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TRACTOR-MOUNTED-HYDRAULIC-LOG-SPLITTER-WITH-3-POINT-LINKAGE-/261021951254?pt=UK_BOI_FarmingEquipment_RL&hash=item3cc61ee516 for £400 piped it to a hydraulic power pack I picked up for £200 so £600 for a really good compact splitter that I can fill 8 builders bags with in a day working on my own I sell them at £60 each that's £480 a day doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the maths does it!! So DONT sell it.....financially it makes no sense and.....you'll miss it toooo much!
