  1. Hi, give me a call tomorow I should be able to sort you out by the end of the week and I'm in Stroud. 07929353641
  2. I bought a 390 back in November and thinks its great, My dealer says it won't run a bar bigger than a 28" without changing the sprocket though and he feels above 28" would be a bit much!! It goes lovely with the 28 though I'm most happy! I bought it as the difference on paper between the 390 and 395 isn't that much but the price difference is!
  3. I still climb with both ends (both spliced on my rope, my preference) and also use a 3m whiptail for a bit of easy positioning, I very rarely have any issues with the loop but then when I started climbing it was what was taught. I was doing line clearance back then and there was alot of emphasis placed on keeping your ropes tidy and away from the lines, bearing in mind we would do live work over the top of the lines and within metres!! Scares the s##t out of me thinking how we worked back then but I guess it taught me alot as I'm still alive!! I look at some of the new kit and techniques around now and it just baffles the s##t out of me!!
  4. Believe it or not I watched a clip on bottle jack assisted felling someone had linked on here and then just kept going with the linked promoted clips!! I had to turn the laptop round so the missus couldn't see when these popped up because she definately wouldn't believe me!!!
  5. Cheers for that, I take it from your response you wouldn't be to keen on taking one up a tree despite the fact its top handled!?
  6. Anyone got any experience of the Stihl 012avp? I'd never seen one or heard of them until recently now I've been offered one! Any thoughts good or bad!?
  7. When I started in Forestry 25ish years ago I was told by an old boy that Holly was a widowers tree and you should never cut one down completely!! prunning is ok but dont fell them to the ground!! I've prunned a few but can't ever remember felling one and I'm still here so that proves it!!
  8. UMMMM why not just move the truck and chipper up the nice smooth tar mac'd road .........? Then there no dragging.......just chipping!!
  9. Don't know if its doable but a few years back I found an assessor for my machine driving tickets he assessed me without training as I'd been using swing shovels dumpers jcb's etc for years with no tickets! I passed his assessments and got my tickets!! I'd try that route first as it'll potentially save a fortune!! Good Luck
  10. That nice but I think the splitting head would do my head in!! still an awesome bit of kit!!
  11. I ran a mix of veg oil and diesel in my missus Audi last year and all the gaskets on the fuel pump disintergrated!! won't do that again!!
  12. Had some ciders......drank all my port and brandy.....back on the cider.....going to single malt the New Year in!! Happy New Year to One and All
  13. Just E-mailed Husky UK asking them to explain the price difference between the UK and the USA....... so watch this space......might be waiting a while though so I wouldn't watch to hard!!
  14. It's the fact they are so much cheaper in other parts of the world, not the fact of what they cost or earn in a life time! a weeks work and most saw's have earn't there money the second week your into profit however at the USA price a days work and your into profit........why is it so different here!!?? What makes the same saw so much cheaper surely if it can sell for £200 in America it can sell for that here aswell? is the wholesale price so different? The manufacturing cost is the same and delivery to sale country can't be that different? So why the massive difference?
  15. No not a tank! the Vw in my profile pic, it cost me £2100 with only 47000 miles only slight issue is it's a 2.5 audi 5 cylinder petrol engine!! goes like stink, pulls like a train but does like a drink!!! bit like me really!! The plan was to convert it to LPG but haven't got round to it yet.....it's on the list!!
  16. I didn't think you could buy a top handled saw if you are not a pro user!!! But then that rule isn't worth the paper it's written on is it!!
  17. £285 + the dreaded is the best price I've found however due to Husky and Stihl silly rules I'd have to spend £100 on fuel to come collect it from you!!
  18. Maybe I should send a letter to the Husqvarna UK sales director and see if I get any response!? As for the warranty at half the price I could buy two and use one for spares if I needed to, but then of all the saws I've had over the last 25years I've never needed to use the warranty on any of them!! And I've had Stihls Husky Dolmar Oleomac and Alpina's!!
  19. Can anyone shed some light on why saws are so damn expensive in the UK? I am looking at buying a new climbing saw and have been looking at the Husky T435 (I like husky and used one of these recently and found it to suit me!) my local dealer wants £400 but I can get it delivered from Italy for £312 or from America for £250! The American dealer sells the saw for £198 its the delivery thats takes it up to £250 so his retail is half the UK cost!! WHY????
  20. Great pics but answer me one question how do you cope with that little chip truck? We have a 3.5 tonne iveco with a gert big box and fill that in about 4hrs if chipping solid, then we start on the T4 which only takes a couple of hours!
  21. Have you thought about offering free summer camping with food and wine to a uk proffesional in return for there time during the summer months! I'd consider dragging the caravan to south west france with the family during the summer months for a negoitiated deal. You never know you might find there are others who would enjoy some time in a sunnier climate in return for a bit of graft!! Just a thought!!
  22. Almost hoping these ones aren't there tomorrow! they're really awkward, in a 2metre gap between a panel fence and a 20ft leylandii hedge with the house and conservatory only feet behind!! Fingers crossed the wind gets stronger and they squish the conservatory with out me!! The old git who owns the consevatory has been moaning/winging and being a royal pain in the arse about the hedge and trees since he bought the house with the trees there!!
  23. Have a look at these they are really tuff wearing and totally waterproof, the inner coat is quick to take out or put in and makes them really warm when the temperature drops! Oh and the police badges are velcro'd on so you don't have to have them!! Arktis - Clothing
