  1. The Tajfan is not exactly road towable
  2. I would start with some Marples chisels and upgrade the sizes you find most useful over the years. As Yaffle says get some decent Japanese waterstones. Learning how to sharpen well can make a cheap tool perform to a high standard.
  3. Damn right. Mrs Woodworks is a nurse there. They're so so understaffed it's nuts. She will do a 12 1/2 hour shift and not have time to eat her lunch yet they waste money on fancy landscaping and architecture which will save nobodys life.
  4. Miserable and damp. Been much like that for a week but the days are getting longer from here on in
  5. Been a hectic few days with deliveries. Got our last one going out now then having a few days off logs.
  6. Read talk of a nasty storm down the North sea on the 26th. Any thoughts?
  7. Marino Icebreaker. Wicks sweat away and doesn't stink when it really ought to
  8. No VAT Never done 5 days straight but on day basis can do 15 tonnes so probably 30 m3 if good supply of straightish wood and machinery to keep the roundwood coming. 1 man with Farmi WP 36 which eats around 16-17 litres of petrol per day It's all about the quality of the wood though. Lots of bendy lumpy stuff that needs a saw taking too it before processing might half the amount done in a day. Sure there must be chaps up that way working for similar money. Thought there were a few on Ebay
  9. Probably why you need to charge a lot summed up there. I love my work
  10. Can't see a few spots of condensation being of any relevance to drying logs not that it likely to form in a well ventilated shed. All our sheds have metal roofs. Most are scavenged from old barns but when we ran out the cheapest option was box profile seconds. They are just sheets where the colour has gone wrong. Admittedly not very cheap but very easy to instal and work with.
  11. Thought we had settled on Mahonia a month ago:001_tongue: Will never know now as its been cut up and drying in my father in laws shed awaiting turning into something.
  12. Been a joy to have you here Paul. Anytime you find yourself in this neck of the woods you are most welcome to stay. Enjoy the rest of this road trip wherever it may take you and look forward to reading of your future adventures. Beau
  13. What's is a decent wage? Rhetorical question realy. Some are happy with 15K a year when others want 50K + Spent many years earning less than 10K
  14. Yesterday did 15-16 tonnes so 30 ish cube with the Farmi + 2 chaps and a Manitou.
  15. He vanished into the mud Jon
  16. We charge £25 per hour + fuel and travel at £0.45 per mile for a processor. Think if we charged some of the prices quoted here we would have no work for it.
  17. Went down the Dmax route. Not towed 3.5 tonne yet but I am sure it would be happy on flatter roads but as Matt mentioned it geared a bit high so stop start on hilly lanes could prove tricky. You have the low range box; not quite sure how it works but the diff will start chewing up your tyres on corners.
  18. See you soon Paul Looks like you have the route sorted I am afraid Dartmoor has laid on typical weather for you. Might need the saw to get here after the winds last night.
  19. Don't know about the Hakki but did 15-16 tonnes today with our Farmi. Think that would equate to 30 m3 of logs. Niceish processor stuff a spare pair of hands and telehandler.
  20. I tried to do something halfway between yours and another I found online. Can't help thinking it looks a bit like micky mouse
  21. Cut tree down 100% effective
  22. Hunting around on the internet for a design to copy. Should have looked on here first Nice work delabodge Did you turn the legs to fit a hole or got one of those nifty tools like a die to shape the ends?
  23. Presuming all saws come with them. Got a 346 XP and MS 460 So I just take the screens out?
  24. Keep reading about you chaps taking them out but are they not there for a reason?
