  1. Come off it chaps. If Paul wants is life posted on Arbtalk he will come here in his own time. Just because he shares stuff on facebook does not mean he wants it posted on here.
  2. Fastest we have found is individual IBC with hats on. Snag is that need loads of space so compromise by making blocks of 30 of then stacked 2 x3x5 with gaps between the 3 rows. Tarp over the tops. 12 months in IBC and a well ventilated space is more than enough even with green wood. If the wood has been seasoned in the round it can cut down drying time a fair bit but a bit species dependant.
  3. Was only going to say what I have taken pictures of plus the smell.
  4. I know and should probably not be sticking my nose in but find the whole situation horrid. Little old lady being taken advantage of for be to nice. pi$$es me right off. Sure it happens up and down the land but don't make it right. Will give her a call and see if she is happy for me to report them. A few words on their Facebook page might help as well.
  5. Nice idea Felix but cant work out if it's a free house or not. How do you tell? Horrible situation really as they lady does not want to have a big falling out with the pub but any presure on them to sort it could result in them getting nasty with her.
  6. I regularly deliver logs to a lovely old lady who lives next to a pub in a beautiful little village. They have a shared alleyway which the pub piles high with bin bags, leaking cooking oil cans, plus all the old kegs also domestic trash like bikes and shelves. When I have been there when it's warm it stinks or rotting food waste. Now the lady is simply too nice to make much of a fuss but they are taking the pee IMO. She had to beg them yesterday just to clear a slot for me to be able walk down to carry the logs in today. It really is filthy mess and has been like that for 10 years apparently. So what can be done to get them to clear it up? Think someone did call environmental health once about the rats but nothing was done. Todays delights include a bag of pheasant remains
  7. Thanks but I think we have crossed wires. I was talking about the Blaney with digholedumper
  8. Not a problem as it would be used on levelish ground and can be lined up straight when fully loaded. Just got to find out what cost now and not proving easy as they dont answer the phone!
  9. Looking at mini loaders and stumbled across this being tested by a farming mag. Came out pretty well. Not very sophisticated but solid and simple was the general view. Anyone been quoted a price on one?
  10. Good choice. Got the same and it's been perfect
  11. In all seriousness I hope he is OK. Sounded like he was pushing himself ridiculously hard which is not good for the health.
  12. I went for a 17 tonne machine and it's proved more than enough. There is always a trade off with power V speed. If you do a search on here the Thor Magic 13 tonne machine is used by a great many of the pros
  13. Hope your poor run on luck comes to an end. Wishing you a better 2018
  14. Hi Chris. We charge £105 and £200 for 1 and 2 cube respectively. West Devon Some of the supposedly cheap sellers are often not as cheap a they appear as there seems to be a fair bit of over exageration of load size. Not aimed at you gdh
  15. So we are not far off. I add milage at 45p per mile both ways so it probably works out around £280 a day for 8 hours worked on site for lot of jobs.
  16. Is that with VAT and do you charge milage?
  17. Hi all. I know we have covered this before but cant find the thread. Recently put our rates up to £30 per hour for processor hire (Farmi WP 36) with operator. Been doing this some years and it's been ticking along but the price hike seems to have dried up the work a bit. Are there lots of guys out there doing processor hire, am I charging too much or is just there are so many processors about no one needs to get a contractor in?
  18. And that's the crux of the matter
  19. J I dont think anybody disputes that winter tyres in winter conditions are far superior. It's the frequency of these conditions for those in warmer parts of the UK that is the sticking point. A local weather station on the edge or Dartmoor at 700' shows just 6 days with an air frost in the last year! Now wet weather tyres would make sense as we had rain every day from the 3rd of December to 6th of January but I still dont think everyone in the UK should have them as there are water shortages in parts of the SE. Think some drivers go to the limit of their traction regardless of what tyres they have on. You can't make idiots smart with rules.
  20. Thanks all So Sip, Pfanner or stick with the Yukon's. Will pop into Abbey and see what they can do
  21. The grain is quite like Utile. So hard to tell without a fresh face exposed
  22. Another thing that I find helps is avoiding standing on hard flat surfaces for long periods. If I am processing on a rough yard on uneven hardcore the back holds up better than on a nice flat concrete yard.
  23. Steve looks on the money but much easier to tell if you could plane up a piece
  24. So what do expensive trousers offer over cheapie's?
  25. So what do you all wear? I am torn between sticking with the cheap Oregan Yukon's and trying something more expensive and and hoping they last a long long time as the Yukons's do me a good few years of part time ground work.
