  1. Very true however if in subbing I get £120 a day, If Its "my job" I bill £150 for myself £150 for second climber he will get paid £120 And or £130for a groundsman and pay him £80 So really if it's "my" own job I'm on more like £170 - £200 Plus the chipper profit, I can't see how you can get away with charging more down around here, Yes it would be nice £200 per man £100 fit chipper but there's no chance I would get £500 a day every day Josh
  2. So what is the going rate for two men truck and chipper ? I'm south west If I tried for anymore than £360 a day I would be sat at home Most I've had a day is £450 as it was a horrible ash £150 per climber, £60 for chipper Cheap I know but people just won't pay more, What can we do?
  3. Suzuki rm 125 2006 Very quick

Seill the exhaust 2 x 6mm holes then it will go better however still not as quick as the 540xp in my opinion

  7. Hi all just a quick post this coming winter, I've seen show is your arb girls, show us your tractors etc, Here's show us your log piles I'm mainly a tree surgeon however if we do get a quiet time I like to do a few logs, My calculations are around 120ish m3 cut and split with 16m3 already gone. Hope this thread is a bit of fun and nice to see others logs 👍😃 Josh
  8. Hi mate for what's it's worth ,I have an 18 month old 201t been spot on , it has had an exhaust mod ( totally **** ) without it, All I've had to fix on 201t was new chain brake assembly in 18months as the old one went stiff, I've also just got a 540xp Time will tell as it's only a week old and my experience with auto tune saws isn't good however the 540xp is certainly nicer balanced than 201t and feels lighter, I would say not much speed difference on smaller stuff but the husky might just have the edge on a bar full Josh
  9. Hi jon, I had the sane problem , I got two rover estate springs fri. Local scrapyard for £24 jobs a gooden, Unloaded the ride is still nice loaded it doesn't sag to much I think genesteve gave me the idea Before After with 1 1/2 body lift,
  10. Most of my saws are now orange 😉 4 v 2 now mate T 540 346xp 346xp 372xp Vs 201t Ms 660
  11. Picked mine up today 201t is on bits and needed a climbing saw fast so thought I would try the "orange one " 👍
  12. Hi mate it was one from a local tyre depo took it out the scrap bin for free, I believe it's a Peugeot exhaust mate, Do you need a few pics?
  13. I have kwick chip 160, Bloody good tool, As far as I know they suffer from three problems, 1 overheating 2 electrical problems 3 axel weakness Mines had the problems solved by the following, 1 overheating, solved by cleaning rad/ water pump and flushing rad/engine through , fitting a new exhaust ( the old one was blowing causing hot air to stay in under the hood) The exhaust was fitted, and wrapped in heat Sheild wrap to keep the heat in the exhaust, 2 electrical problems, I've had the no stress bypassed on mine so it's just controlled by the bar, 3 axel problems, Luckily mines has a new 2" box axel before I picked it up but nice just fitted new indi spension units, and new wheels/ tyres, Hope this helps mate

    Cooking oil.

I used and use sunflower oil in sub 15" bars no problems hot or cold then "proper" chain oil for bars over 15/16" to add the antifling properties needed ! Josh
  15. He would only have to do 8 loads, 12 cube in my book to cover his costs, He would easily do that so £800 would easily be covered in the value if split logs
  16. Well if I do as you have posted, Supply me tools and fuel, 3 saws, tools, truck,20tonne splitter etc ( in pic) It's £130 for my labour And £60 machine hire so it's £190 a day mate take it or leave it, But as people have said tools wear splitters need maintaining etc! Josh

    353 husky

I've used one, Runs like a 346xp silverside on half choke ( if you have got "good/fast" saws a 353 will feel slow ) Josh

    what 4x4

Well looking at the list by aspen arb, number 8 has had the less work done to it so I'm sticking by hilux for now, personally I had a choice hilux or lr de fender, I chose the hilux because I have rear seats for my tools, it's ok on fuel (one of the best I would say mate has a l200, another mate has a navara ) and it's better than then!! Good ride, and so far ultra reliable, I've covered 10,000 miles in my mk5 hilux since April and all it's needed was a set if front pads ! The reason I didn't go for a lr was I do a lot of shooting/ hunting so have had the chance to drive a few, yes they may be good off-road and tow well but my god they are crap to drive! The key is on the wrong side and turns the wrong way, the heater is poo, you have to then with the window open because the steering wheels are so big you wack your arm on the do window else !! But each to there own I've been working in st Austell today (180 mile round trip) I personally wouldn't like to do that journey in a landy defender , but there we go, hope this helps a bit Josh
  22. Good chap ! Hilux power

    Love it.

I love mine 24" bar nice light powerful simple saw for climbing, And a joy to use on the ground! Bloody brilliant tool it's been swapped for the 66 for most of the time as it's so light and a joy to use!!
  24. A very small amount! I've priced a large post and rail job but haven't herd from then, guessing I've lost the job by now! I've not got a digger or tractor that's why I stick to domestic as opposed to agricultural fencing mate
  25. 😄😄😄😄😄👍
