  8. sounds like a fell and winch them out job - manageable size for a digger sounds a little ambiguous - specify max lengths and weight you will leave the timber in your quote also go back and have another good look before you submit a price.
  9. Found this while at work last week - mentioned it to the local tree officer who was not aware of it - ive sent him pic with location:001_smile:
  10. I once saw it on Pinus nigra "Maritima" (hope my spelling is up to scratch)
  11. I think im confusing things - a mulch at the right amount is good-it will have the right amount of nutrients in it -
  12. Mark has there been any ground alterations of any kind around the root area
  13. my guess would be - tree under stress needs to preserve energy reserves - nitrogen makes the tree put on extra growth and that depletes the energy reserves
  14. is that gnomonia platani - if so - no problem
  15. the only two things I can think of is 1. decay 2. wind dynamics have changed - eg has there been any tree losses close by?
  16. bracing is a highly skilled job - where to brace where not to brace and how many - get it wrong can result in branch failure - that's the trouble
  17. when you have climbed for years you get very confident - then you have to make sure you don't get complacent:001_smile:
  18. well done you sound like you have confidence in your equipment now.
  19. I think all things considered the risk is too high for bracing however if the client is aware bracing is an option but cannot be guaranteed, and he goes ahead with it - that's fine
